Only the painted area is glazed. The rest of the cup is natural.
The cups are very attractive and well made. In the set of four, each cup is a different color which make them even more fun to use. I use them every day for hot tea. Since the bottom is not glazed, they tend to sweat; so you might want to use a coaster. I am thinking of buying another set.
