This trailer hitch cover is made completely out of steel. We weld the custom step tube onto the backplate and powder coat the hitch. Then we add the detail pieces on the front to give the hitch and awesome 3D design. In total the hitch ends up being 1/4 inch thick so it's very tough and heavy. We have had a lot of reports of these hitch covers actually saving a bumper from being rear ended.
