Family favorite
This book was given as a family gift when our kids were li. It has become a family favorite and now we as grandparents have bought a book for each of our children to share with their families! Truly a classic.

A Beautiful Gift
I love giving this book to expectant mothers. The rural setting is balm to my soul. The family scenes almost make me cry. The little boy in the story has a sweet appreciation for nature and family. I love the quiet tones when reading this story out loud to a child. But my favorite part of the book is the artwork. From a homemade quit, to delicate killdeers, to the kind features of a loving grandmother, every painting of Mike Wimmer's is absolutely GORGEOUS.

Great story, great art
All the Places has been a favorite now in our family for over two years. I've given it to several friends as gifts, and for many of them, it has become a favorite, too. When my older child was two, and I started to go to the library regularly, I was aghast at what I found in the children's section. Too many picture books had dumbed-down language, ugly pictures, or both. This book is a gem: the language is beautiful, and so is the art. In fact, I like the art so much that I might buy another copy of the book, and cut it up to frame some of the pages! This is a book I don't mind reading 100 times - and I bet I've read it more than that, as both my 2-year-old and my 4-year-old request it as a favorite out of our huge collection of children's books. Definitely one of our top 10 choices!

Lovely
Beautiful illustrations of a little boy on a farm getting a new baby sister. The book is a story rather than just a set of pictures.

Wonderful book!
I bought this book for my granddaughter to start her classroom library for her first year of teaching. It was a favorite read aloud of mine when I taught and I love the illustrations.

All The Beauty to Behold...
With breathtaking, ethereal watercolor portraits and simplistic yet eloquent language, Patricia McLachlan (the author of Sarah, Plain and Tall) spins a charming narrative of family, dreams, hope, and beauty. A young boy recalls how his family clings to home and the promise the land brings forth through sustaining life in their valley. Not merely a picture book, but also a concise allegory about the path that connects one generation to the next. One that will be cherished by all and is perfect for facilitating meaningful discussions, especially with little ones. This book is really a most precious treasure!

My New Favorite
We got this book for our 1yr old daughter. All of our children love it and so do we. It really takes you inside the world of this family and how much they enjoy the little details about where they live and how much they care for one another. My wife cried the first three times she read it. I can't even begin to describe how amazing the pictures are. I tried to find other books illustrated by the same person but had no luck. This is easily the most beautifully illustrated book I've ever seen. We just bought another copy for a birthday party this weekend. This will definitely be our new book to give to people.

Beautifully written and illustrated
I am a teacher, so I love children's literature. With that said, this has become one of my favorites. I heard it recently in a professional development and immediately wanted to buy it for my classroom and my daughters at home. It's a lovely story, full of imagery both through text as well as illustration. The plot details a family and their love of both special places in their lives as well as each other. It's a beautiful story for a read aloud and one children of many ages as well as adults enjoy.

Sweet wholesome storyline.
I think my husband and I have loved reading this book to our children as much as they enjoyed smuggling up and listening to it.

Beautiful!
This book is so beautiful. The story and artwork took my breath away! Warning, I cried through the whole thing, but that was because it was such a moving read! Regardless of how old your children are I think any parent would love this book!
