Easy to comprehend
Exactly what it says, English on one side, Russian on the other. Much easier than searching for this book at a bookstore!

Excellent for learning Russian language usage and culture
As an adult learner, I am enjoying learning Russian at my own pace, without grades. This book of poetry provides insight into idioms of Russian and how much of the language does not translate directly into English. Fortunately I have good teachers (neighbors) who help with explanations and pronunciation.

See poem on page 142 next to last line.Re Russian word "искренно" the wrong syllable is stressed. The first syllable should be stressed. (In the book I purchased, the second syllable is stressedby mistake. )

Gives illiteracy a bad name
Danny DeVito fans may remember the comic film Throw Mama from the Train. Its title is a shortening of Throw Mama from the Train a Kiss, an old taunt of non-native English speakers who occasionally invert word order. That, however, will sound like Shakespeare or Wordsworth once you have tried to read this garbled translation of a smattering of Pushkin’s poetry. For example, the first line of Death Thoughts, has been variously translated as “Along the noisy streets I wander,” “If I walk the noisy streets,” When down the loud streets I go straying,” and “Wandering the noisy streets.” In this edition it comes out “Am wandering whether I along the streets noisy.” Honestly, it is better in Finnish: Kun kaduilla mä kuljeskelen.” After stumbling through a dozen or so of these poems it occurred to me that maybe the “translator” had simply run the original Russian through Google Translate, so I took one of the excerpts from Eugene Onegin and did just that. Google Translate was better.
