I bought these because I had a geriatric cat who wasn't cleaning herself and had gotten really terrible mats all over her body. I tried cutting them out with scissors but no luck. Then I bought these clippers on a whim, and they worked amazingly well. The buzz and vibration were low enough to not scare her, and I was able to get a close shave even under really badly matted hair. I was surprised at how easily these worked. I never cut her skin. She was SO happy and relieved afterwards to get all that matted hair off. These are a great value and I am so glad I bought them.Flash forward a year and our cat is no longer with us, but my husband picked up these clippers (after cleaning) and started using them to shave his head. He prefers them over various other clippers he's bought for himself. So, good for geriatric cats and husbands.

This is an amazing clipper. I have used it one my mom’s shih tzus and my Pomeranian and it is extremely effective. Both have hair that can mat pretty badly. They don’t love the feel of the vibrations but it is fairly quiet and they tolerate it pretty well. Complete disclosure- they had some pretty awful haircuts until I learned to use it better but that was me not the clipper! Tips- do NOT press the clipper vertically Against their skin, put your palm behind the hair or use a comb to lift the hair. The naked blade can nick them. Angle it to get it under mats and be extra gentle where they have folds or sensitive skin. This company is also solid, they stand behind their products.Update 2-10-2021 still buzzing away. Remember to clean and oil it properly after use.

At last, a cat clipper/shaver that really works well! My long-haired--and also my short-haired--kitties all have very fine and thick hair and really needed a clean-up in the, er, "privacy area," and this worked so smoothly without pulling or any loud noise that would scare the cats. I even had one kitty with some dread locks on her back that I simply just shaved and now that I know she isn't able to reach that area to sort herself out, I will brush her so to prevent further tangles. I am very glad to have this little handy appliance for kitty care. I know I can use it on my Golden Retriever, too. I like that it is rechargeable and that the appliance runs rather quietly. It just didn't scare the critters. I'm impressed and happy with the quality!

I really loved that this product is cordless! It’s easy to use and comes with a lot of accessories. Unfortunately, I think it was still too loud for my little kitten who had a mat under his arm- he scratched me up! Still, great product! I just think it’ll be better if I have a second person to control my kitten.

I got pretty much what I expected from this. It's not an amazing shaver, but its low noise level, its safety features, and its price made it a good buy for what I wanted to use it for. I have a Maine Coon cat and her fur got really matted this year, and scissors were a clumsy solution, so I bought this to solve the problem. She's not used to being handled roughly so it was necessary for me to buy something that would provoke her the least. She didn't act up any more than she would have if I were clipping her claws, and although some of the mattes took some time to work through, I know this shaver isn't especially designed for that. It's pretty safe to use even without one of the guides included (I pressed it against my own skin to make very sure and it didn't so much as scratch the surface).If your cat or dog has long hair, be warned that it may get caught in between the guide and the shaver itself, meaning you'll need to pull it out with your fingers on a constant basis, which is pretty annoying. I can't complain though because this only cost me $20~.

I have a long haired cat, he NEVER grooms himself! We have had the typical mat under his belly from time to time. I bought a cheap electric shaver at Walmart, it did the trick for the most part. But was super loud and had to be plugged in to use. Not ideal when you are trying to sneak up on him while he is calm and sleepy. Cut to this Summer, while he is strictly an inside cat he likes to lay in the window and he gets hot. He has bad hips so we rarely pet/touch his back/hip area. The other day I did and his entire back had gotten so matted! I felt terrible I didn't notice it sooner. I tried the shaver we have and it was a nightmare. He had gotten so bad it actually broke the guard and I was so worried it was pulling his hair and hurting him. Off to Amazon I went! I found this and based on the other reviewers who have used these on fickle cats, I decided to give it a try. I don't write reviews, pretty much ever, but right after finishing using it on Ferris I had to share! This tool is incredible, right out of the box it was able to get a full charge within 30 mins. I love that it is cordless, made it so much easier. But the best part was how quite it is and how quickly and painlessly it cleared up his mats! My husband held him while I did the grooming, and Ferris was actually just calmly sitting there licking and purring as I cleaned him up. It was a dream! If you have a little pet who is in need of a hair cut, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase!!

Easy to use. And the low noise level kept my cat calm and relaxed. Only down side to this is that the cat hair would get stuck on the blades, making it hard to keep trimming the hair unless you remove the gair stuck on the blades. Its my first time grooming a cat. Overall it worked for me, i just had to keep turning off the clippers and removing the hair every now and then.

These clippers are amazing! I used them to shave down my Persian cat when she had matts. Cut so smooth and the noise level was so quiet it my cat didn’t even notice. The clippers even came with quality scissors and a metal comb!

pretty quiet, i slowly got the cats used to it by brushing them with the clipper in my hand, still have to hold firmly but better than trying to cut hair with scissors

super easy to use, especially as a newbie to home grooming. The guards are fantastic and you dont have to worry about cutting off to much (or nicking) your critter. Not loud at all!

Horrible clippers if you intend to purchase this for grooming a dog. We have a 45 lb Portuguese Water Dog. This could not cut her hair. Every 2 strokes, I had to remove the clip and unclog it. It is not powerful enough to cut through a dog’s coat of hair. I would compare the quality to that of my husband’s beard trimmer; not a dog grooming clipper. Returning product.
