Very satisfactory folding workbench
This is a very satisfactory folding workbench / vise; substantially equivalent to the Black and Decker Workmate that I bought 30 or 40 years ago and that is still doing good work. I was worried that such an inexpensive unit would be weak; but this one feels pleasingly sturdy, once it's assembled with everything tight.A number of reviewers have complained that various designs of folding workbench are difficult to assemble. This one took a substantial time (1 1/2 or 2 hours), but everything was reasonably straightforward. Some suggestions for assembly:(a) A reviewer mentioned that he needed a lot of force to drive the wood screws that hold the table top boards in place. I agree; I worried about stripping the screw head. The screws will go in much more easily and hold equally well if you lubricate them with soap: Just roll the screw threads on a bar of soap so they pickup a bit of soap, and then drive the lubricated screw into the pre-drilled hole.(b) The M6 bolts that hold the legs to the cross-bars don't have any locking system: I suggest putting the flat washer provided under the bolt head to give a better grip on the large hole, and adding a lock washer under the nut. If you don't have a metric lock washer, a 1/4" lock washer works fine.(c) One end of the crank assembly is designed to pivot around a single M8 bolt with a nylon-insert lock nut. On my unit, the nut was much too loose on both crank assemblies, so the outer board of the vise flopped around. Tightening these nuts more than a turn gave a tightness where the unit moved and pivoted smoothly and didn't flop. Check this before you screw the top boards to the crank assembly. I didn't notice the flopping until the unit was completely assembled, so I had to remove the 8 wood screws in order to get at the problem nuts. One suggested improvement: These workbenches usually have a shallow horizontal grove running down the inside of each vise jaw, which is very convenient when you need to grip a round object. This unit had a flat face with no groove. If you have a table saw, it is easy to cut a groove: 1/16" deep and 3/16" wide is about right.

Good for household uses
Put together quite easily. The legs looked lopsided when first put together, but balanced perfectly once the top planks were fitted on.Wish the top planks were 4-6" longer.Overall, a great buy for home use.

Seems OK itself - HOWEVER ....
Received mine - the packaging had been fairly badly damaged and torn open, then obviously taped closed by Carrier. I opened the packaging - which seem quite flimsy for what was inside. No wonder it had been torn open. Mine had no other protective packaging inside the box to help stabilize the contents from shifting/banging around. I am not sure if it originally did have it, or if it came out when the box was torn open. Unfortunately, one of the table top adjustment rails was also missing from the box - so, I wasn't able to assemble, nor use the workbench at all. No instructions either - I don't know if they had been included or were lost as well. Hey manufacturer - package items appropriately! So, Amazon ordered me a replacement. They ordered it 9 days ago - and UPS shows that a tracking number was assigned - but nothing else!! So I'm STILL waiting - and not even knowing IF or when they will be shipping the thing out to me. Here it has been about three weeks since I originally order this item - and here I sit, still waiting to get the thing!UPDATE: STILL has not arrived - and status has changed to "May Be Lost". Great - I have waited and waited - and now it is gone! The first one which did arrive, had terribly flimsy packaging as I mentioned - it had torn open and lost parts. I am guessing that the same has happened to this one (and maybe the Carrier just threw it away!). HEY SELLER - beef up that wimpy packaging - it is so flimsy that I do not see how you expect it to move through the transportation from place to place.

A light workbench for light work
It wasn't terrible to assemble, but took me a bit of time. It's not all that sturdy. It is great for folding up and hanging or stashing away; folds pretty flat and is pretty light. I usually have it out unfolded sitting in a corner between a couple of tables where I have to lift it to get it out and that's no problem. It's standard table/desk height, which is convenient for me. But it is difficult to put much pressure on anything; it starts to click like the plastic will break. It's enough pressure to clamp boards to be cut and do pretty much all I need, but definitely not pro construction quality.
