Indicative but uncertain accuracy sometimes
I have tested this Lamjad Breath Test Meter over a few days taking it with me whenever I’m having a drink whether driving or not to try and get an idea of how accurate/consistent it is.A user manual is supplied and, whilst comprehensive, the text is small – helpfully UK importer contact details are supplied. The unit requires two AAA batteries (not supplied) and indicates if they need replacing. You also need a disposable mouthpiece of which you get 10 in the pack. My message to the suppliers is that where a product requires consumables they should linked on the main product page – that way consumers will have confidence of their availability. One further omission is that although in the user guide it states a carry box is provided mine did not include one – this is a pity as it would have been useful. The unit is easy to operate and the large display tells you when to blow and the unit bleeps to tell you to continue blowing. The last 50 readings can be accessed by using the mode key. I tried to keep my drinks consistent and took readings after half an hour or so of having my last drink but got quite differing results having drunk both wine and spirits and in some ases consumed food. The impression I got from my readings was that this machine is better at detecting more recent drink consumption but is not as good at detecting levels a longer time after consumption - this does affect it accuracy. I like the fact you can measure in mg/l, 0./00 BAC and % BAC.You can set your own warning limits and the display will be red plus the unit bleeps if they are exceeded. I think it a missed opportunity that UK limits are not preset in the machine as well.Overall, this device serves a useful purpose in raising awareness/interest in drink/drive safety issues but I’d be concerned about the inconsistency of results when measuring after a longer period since your last drink.

Accuracy inconsistent?
This is easy to use, but the accuracy doesn't seem to be consistent, showing quite different numbers only five minutes apart. I don't feel I can trust it.

Reasonable piece of equipment
I find this breathalyzer to be a reasonably accurate tool for testing the amount of alcohol in the system. It is easy to use, comes with 10 mouthpieces that can be cleaned and re-used if necessary, and if an average reading is taken (at least 2-3 attempts) one could be reasonably confident of the results. It gives clear results and turns red if over a set limit. It is quite small, so is easy to store.I guess these tools have their place, but surely it is much more reliable to just not drink and drive in the first place? I think if I was to use this regularly, it would be to check my levels the next day, after a good nights sleep, rather than 'have a couple down the pub' and then see if I was Ok to drive. And I suppose another use might be to see if it is OK for any medication after a certain period. It is an effective tool, but I am a little concerned about the consistency of results. However, if it leaves me in any doubt about my condition then I will not drive or operate machinery at work.

Could be worth the investment...
It would be best and safest for all concerned to avoid driving if you've had a drink. However, there are circumstances when this Lamjad Breathalyzer could really come in handy. And I'm not talking about in the pub to help you to decide whether you could 'get away with another'. In any event, if you're thinking of using it for this purpose do be aware that you need to wait at least 20 minutes after taking a drink before using this device. But I'm thinking this breath tester could be extremely useful if you drive for a living and have had a night out and over-indulged. When you may find it a very good way to check you're not over the limit the morning after, as can happen. This doesn't apply to me or my partner. But we do enjoy a drink - and it's been no problem to try this device out. It's easy to use and the readings are clearly displayed on the LCD digital display screen. A user manual is included. You need two AAA batteries - which aren't. You also get 10 mouthpieces that can be cleaned and potentially used many times. The attempts we've so far made suggested the readings were accurate. You can save as many as 50 breath tests on the breathalyzer. But if you remove the batteries, the data will be lost. Good to have this piece of kit but if your livelihood is driving, it could be well worth the investment.

Handy for checking your limits
Now first off the best way I feel to ensure you are not over the limit for driving a vehicle is to be zero tolerant, don’t drink if you intend to drive. That said some do feel safe to have a minimum recommend drink if on a night out or at a work do and this tester allows for a check of your alcohol content. Instructions included are clear to understand and the tester is set to the UK legal limit, if you are over the screen will turn red.Now while the breath reading is a good indicator of your blood alcohol content, only a blood test would give 100% accurate results. Hence why police have to do breath and blood tests before you can be charged.10 nozzles are included but you can wash and re-use them.
