Time reaver get you through the night, but can create other trouble as well
It was so exciting to learn that David Tennant and Catherine Tate were teaming up to play the 10th Doctor and Donna Noble again, fans probably overlook the quality of the script. This one is so good, it's too bad it wasn't used for the TV series.Calibris isn't a font in this episode, but a planet of spaceship mechanics and roguish elements. Time reavers are an illegal mood-enhancing element that can either give its users the ultimate high or pain so excruciating it will kill them. In an atmosphere like Calibris's, they're in heavy demand.Tennant continues to bring the same zest and energy to the Doctor as he did for the screen and Tate's performance for this second soundplay for Big Finish is much more polished than the first one, Technophobia. It's also amusing to listen to them rehash some of the running gags they had on the show. Dan Starkey, who has also appeared in BBC series--most notably as Strax--is also great in his contribution.Unlike previous Big Finish CDs I have listened to, this one is the soundplay only. There are no audio documentaries following it.

The Doctor and Donna back togetjer again
This was a great story. Really fantastic to hear Donna back together with Tennants Doctor. My only complaint is I really look forward to the little interviews after the story like with most the other Big Finish Doctor Who stories. None of that here though.

"All lost property belongs to me"
Big Finish productions are a hidden gem that really bring Doctor Who to life with no regard for budgetary or technological limitations. The beautifully mastered introduction scene to Calibris Station is testament to this, as one could easily imagine something that'd eat up a whole few episodes of Doctro Who's budget. This story is brilliant in many ways. It is classic Doctor and Donna, re-introduces a lot of story elements previously lost (Such as the good ol' Fluid Link, the planet of the boys) and some amazing characters I feel the show could not have done justice to. The story revolves around something almost as horrible as any weapon of the Time War, A time reaver, a gun that, in short terms, slows down individual time. But how it is used and how it was intended to be used will reveal some interesting facts about many people.

This audiobook is great for Doctor Who fans
This audiobook is great for Doctor Who fans. Like most BBC audiobooks, this story has a full cast of actors reading the story--including three actual Doctor Who actors! Having Catherine Tate and David Tennant reading their parts just makes the story come alive. The story itself is typical of a single episode. There are a few Easter Eggs referencing TV series canon as well. Overall, lots of fun. I wish there were more of these audiobooks.

Rough destination, rougher villains, even rougher shops.
Someone has strolled off with a time reaver and gone to the space port to give it away, unfortunately the road to hell is paved with good intentions and this story tells this version with slithering slurping and gross out images all on audio, the effect of the time reaver is done a bit over the top, a bit too much echo for me, but once you get round that bit the rest sounds like a romp through a Douglas Fairbanks jnr film with obligatory bar punch up, well you have to have one in order for the law to come in and break it up. The aliens that take over the spaceport are not here to conquer it, they love paper work and filling in forms, bureaucrats paradise. The Doctor and Donna rollercoaster their way through it and come out spinning, villains not withstanding, so if you a problem with the your fluid link or need a spare part for your Tardis now there's a place to go get one, no Ebay items.

The ultimate weapon
The Doctor and Donna arrive on Callibris, a spaceport where anything goes and a weapon called a Time Reaver is in the hands of a gangster called Gully. Good fun, the 2nd 10th Doctor audio sees David Tennant and Catherine Tate are on great form as The Doctor and Donna. Like the previous release Technophobia, this is set sometime during series 4 of the new series and feels like an episode of the TV series with Dan Starkey who normally plays Strax the Sontaran in the TV series in another role here playing a completely different character while Gully the alien gangster makes a good villain.

Not the most exciting.......
Reasonably well produced and acted audio, but ultimately this is a rather dissatisfying, lightweight story, much like the modern style TV series it is supposed to come from. In this sense, I suppose it is reasonably authentic, but even taking this into account, this is not the most exciting audio.

Great to hear David Tennant and Catherine Tate back together ...
Great to hear David Tennant and Catherine Tate back together as these characters, the chemistry is wonderful between them and the story wouldn't feel at all out of place if it were on screen during Tennant's run as The Doctor!
