The internal qt and liter markers - how far down do they go? from the pics it looks like it just shows the largest measurements. does it go down to 1?

In the 30-quart pot, the marks start at 9 liters (the 10 quart line is a little above that) and goes up to 27 liters (with the 28 quart line a little below.) BE ADVISED: although the the photos in the Amazon description show some space above the 30-quart line, those photos are NOT accurate; there is NO margin above the advertised size. In fact, the "30 quart" will OVERFLOW at a bit less than 30 quarts, right about 28 liters (the 24-quart, which I returned, is similarly misdescribed.) The pots are NOT as tall at the rim as is shown; that's actually the height including the lid with its handle. If you're going to come anywhere near needing the capacity listed in the name, you MUST buy the next larger size.

Can I sear meat in it first, for the stew or will it stain the bottom?

I do, I haven't stained it yet. But then make sure not to burn or darken the meat to much, as I have not proven it to that point 😅

Is the base of this pot aluminum clad? i.e. Is a layer of aluminum sandwiched between the outside stainless base and the inside stainless base

Yes the bottom is Aluminum clad. This is a very heavy duty, high quality pot. Highly recommend.

Pentola davvero capiente e ben costruita, perfetta per cucinare in grandi quantità. L’acciaio inox è robusto e si scalda in modo uniforme, evitando bruciature sul fondo. I manici sono rinforzati e comodi da afferrare anche a pieno carico. Il coperchio si adatta perfettamente e trattiene bene il calore. Ottima su piani a induzione, ma compatibile con tutti i tipi di fornelli. Ideale per brodi, conserve, o cotture lente. Un acquisto consigliato per chi ha bisogno di una pentola di grande capacità e qualità.

Mio marito appena lo ha vista mi detto che gli ricordava quando era militare..... Si è un bel pentolone ma non lo abbiamo acquistato per un nostro uso personale, ci mancherebbe😂😂😂😂, è per la cucina delle feste patronali dove entrambe siamo dei volontari. E' adatta sia per la cucina a gas che a induzione. L'acciaio è di buona qualità e lo spessore è tale che non la rende una pentola pesante, almeno quando è vuota. Direi tutto ok.
