Mine is. Great for top rope belay.

Q: How well will this work with the 8mm Sterling Oplux?

For static ropes, the lowest you can go with device is 8.1 mm. For dynamic ropes, 8.9. When a rope stretches under weight, it gets thinner so even though it might work with a 8mm static rope, once you weigh the rope it could lead to the rope slipping through the device.
