Women's Moab 2 Vent Hiking Shoe

I love the look and feel of the Moab by Merrell. The only two things I would change would be to make the heel lining out of smooth leather or some other durable, quality material as they always shred quickly when wearing them where your sock heel makes contact with the back of the inside of the shoe. Many years ago, I had some hiking boots, brand unknown, that were not made of padded fabric and did not wear out like these do. Also, I would make the laces flat instead of rounded so they would stay tied without having to double knot. Still, a really nice looking shoe, even with its few flaws. Also comfortable (when you get the size that fits you). I am not sure why this last pair was too short but I'll try again. Another great feature is the insoles are removable so you can insert your own orthotics if you have them!

I wore them because I couldn't believe that they truly didn't fit right- I'm always a size 9 M, but these shoes disproved that theory. Anyway, as others have noted, the toe box, for me at least, was too big and something about them made my feet actually hurt. Since I've worn them, I can't in all honesty return them, but beware about the large toe-box and the weird shoe dynamics. And if you do buy them and find yourself hesitating as to whether or not they feel okay (while you're still wearing them on the carpet), just box them up and send them back.

Length was a bit shorter than expected so I've re-ordered half size up. Otherwise, these are exactly what I hoped for. Fit great for my narrow, low- instep foot. Heel fits perfectly snug, arch feels right and toe room good, just too short, barely, and wanted more room for hills. Nice firm sole, light enough weight and feel like perfect fit. Looks like they would accommodate higher instep as well with looser lace-up. I've had my high-top Merrells for over 30 years! Still in great shape with all parts intact and tight so I trust the brand. The free shipping through amazon returns was the one reason I took chance of buying hiking shoes online; returned easily with no issues. Very happy with these and can't wait to hike in new pair. I normally take 9 to 9.5 in boots but didn't want them too big for light socks so I should've ordered 9.5, not 9 as toe was just about touching end.
