Hello Bany, I personally do not use the tape discs, I personally do not use the tape discs that came with the magnets order; I personally find and have been using for a long time is as follows:--Johnson and Johnson First Aid WATERPROOF Tape..And Or...Nexcare(brand) Waterproof Tape, Size One Inch (Wide) For Either; Available where you can Purchase Bandaids; These tapes are much more SECURE , Showering For Days, Many Days without removing magnets from body. Which side for this brand goes next to your skin

Not sure. My magnets shattered when they attached to each other. I never used them. I was not happy with this product. To break so easily discouraged me from this product.

Is their 5,000 gauss measure in surface gauss, or core gauss? i read that only surface gauss works, but it only goes up to about 3,000 gauss...

The deep therapy magnet has a surface gauss of 5000 gauss. Most magnets used in magnetic therapy products have a surface gauss of 1000 gauss and they are still very effective. You can do an approximate measurement yourself. Take a small compass and starting from about 2 feet away start moving the compass slowly toward the magnet. Watch for when the compass needle STARTS to move. That is how far the magnet penetrates. How far is the compass from the magnet?. Each inch means about 1000 gauss.
