4.5 STARS - MIDDLE SLOW AT TIMES, BUT ENDING AMAZING!
This series of the Mackintoshes and McLarens really starts with Fredrick's Queen which is book 2 of the Graham series (confusing I know).I liked Ian's Rose better than this one. This one has more personal trauma I guess, plus murder mystery.I did like both the H/h a lot, they were strong and caring. My heart really went out to our h because she only knew pain, and her husband refused to love her. Foreplay is described very mildly, and the actual act is more talked about after the fact. Granted they make love a lot, and says how much each pleases the other, but not described at all. There were many twists and surprises that I was shocked and didn't see coming. This story also contains a lot of humor but also sadness. You will use a lot of emotions reading this. We do get HEA, no cliffhanger, romance that builds very slowly, but it is there.I would recommend this whole series, and need to wait to the last book of this series, which I have already pre-ordered. Sexual attraction aplenty, even without the visuals!
Let me admit first that I don't read historicals much any more. After years of reading them primarily I got bored with the formulaic plots. After reading this one, Suzan Tisdale may have swayed me to return to them. I truly enjoyed Alec and Leona's story. I appreciate the fact that the author can tell a story full of sexual tension between a husband and wife without all the blatant description. Some of us out there actually prefer to leave some to the imagination. There's nothing wrong with a little mystery. Thank you Ms. Tisdale for a delightful read!

Intriguing
I truly loved The Bowie Bride. Alec Bowie and Leona MacDowall's story is exceptional. This is not only a love story because there is intrigue and suspense as well. I was thankful for that because it kept me at the edge of my seat while cheering the hero and heroine on.Alec, never wanted a wife at all. His past has brought him to that decision. He never wanted to be Clan Chief and now he is. He finds himself agreeing to an alliance marriage with the Mackintosh/MacLaren Clan. Any woman at this point will do for Alec, the key will be who will want to willing be a Bowie. His clan has had a terrible reputation. All he needs is to wed her, bed her and obtain an heir...then he can be left alone.Leona MacDowall has been the woman her clan has always talked about... up until she became the Laird's wife's friend and it was discovered she was also her cousin. Prior to that she was called "Odd Eyes" and some gossipped she was a witch and a bit strange in the head. As she listens to her Laird's request for a lass to voluntarily wed The Bowie...she makes a decision that hopefully will change her life for possibly a wee bit better than the one she has had. She remembers Alec, he kept his word in helping her before. These two have difficult past. Pasts that have made them the way they are. This is a new journey for both of them...that is hard enough, but add evil that lurks around and you are in for one heck of a ride. There was humor, suspense, intrigue and love. I look forward to reading Brogan's Promise soon.Great job Ms. Tisdale!

Another wonderful book!!
Let me start by saying that the more I read of Suzane Tisdale, the more I adore her! She writes these amazing heroines that are venerable, feminine, yet once they come into themselves they are literally the Biggest spit firingwomen on the planet! The men (in my opinion) are these big, heroic men, stepping up the plate and will protect you with everything they are, UNTIL, they find their one. Then they are are as used less a box of nails with no hammer. On to the Bowie bride!Warning: spoilers! What the hell Effie! I’ve known women like you, if Suzan was trying to tell me something in this book, it’s that there is an Effie in every persons life!Leona! I adore Leona! I see her as this short, petite woman, and when she finally has had enough she’s the one that slaps ya senseless with words! Love hers!Alec! That poor helpless man....how he survived without Leona I will never know! And his men! They are absolutely hilarious together! Typical men! Favorite scene with the men: the cleaning scene. Well you see...I did catch her...I can imagine this big burly man standing there like he just won the Nobel peace prize for catching her and then growing cause it was taken away when she hit her head! It’s just a lovely book, tons of feel goods, heartache, and once again you feel like you are there.

Bowie Bride
In my desire to assure that I had this book pre-ordered I accidentally ordered it on Amazon AND Barnes & Noble! The Bowie Bride, Leona, truly did not have a clue as to what her life was to become. Marrying into Clan Bowie who had survived for generations by simply taking what they wanted using any means available. Would her new husbands attempts to turn them around, forsaking might, intimidation and stealing really work? Could they become farmers, actually working for what will sustain them in the coming years? Would Clan Bowie accept the thought of Peace? There is one who will not stand for it, will not let loose the old ways and who will be damned if Leona remains Laird Alec Bowie's Bride. Enjoy this pearl of a book and see if two very different people from very different backgrounds can unite themselves as well as a clan!

Good read
Another good read from this author, it had interesting characters and storyline. Though it was stereotypical of this type of book but I still enjoyed it and will read the next in the series.

I love Highland stories and liked this one particularly
I love Highland stories and liked this one particularly. the Bride in question was fiesty and didn't let the hero walk all over her as they so often tend to do in these kinds of stories. Would recommend.
