A Good General Purpose Modem
I ordered this modem (ARRIS TM 1602 Touchstone) on the 31st of May. And received it on the 2nd of June. Kudos to Amazon's Fast Delivery (and I'm not even a 'Prime Member'). There were three reasons that I ordered this particular modem. (1) Back in 2021 my cable provider (Spectrum) included this modem as part of its installation equipment. Of course the customer had to rent it. So I figured that it would be cheaper (in the long run) to just purchase my own (the modem only cost $79. (2) Back then (as well as now) this modem works well with my Linksys EA 3500 Router. (3) And is compatible with almost all cable internet providers (Spectrum/Armstrong/Comcast ect.) Note: keep in mind that this is not a "wireless modem." It requires an ethernet connection from modem to router. For the price it is an excellent 'general purpose' modem in terms of speed, reliability, quality of signal and ease of setup/connectivity.

Great Modem, I think, great price for sure! Too Bad Comcast Has a “No Fun Allowed” Policy
Can’t tell you how well it works… Comcast/Xfinity refused to activate it without \$50 activation and \$50/month after, because apparently a phone modem + internet modem = “two modems” in their alternate reality. FCC says I can use my own gear, Comcast says “LOL, nice try.” Four hours, six “support” reps, and several blood pressure spikes later… I had to return it and rent their approved all-in-one. The modem? Probably great. Comcast? Still Comcast.

Its a great Idea to buy your own Modem. Avoid the cable company's greedy fees
I was paying $5 bucks a month for my rental modem from Optimum Online, which was ok, and a total of $60 bucks a year isnt too bad to rent. But they had to get greedy. They raised my rental to $10 bucks a month. That's when I was like "nope, ain't aying that."Its an Excellent idea to get your own modem. The 1602A works just the same way as the provided modem from Optimum.Excellent for the higher tier speeds, but of course will work for lower speed tiers as well.Item was indeed refurbished, with some slight scratches and marks and scuffs, but overall in good shape,I say, about B, to B minus in stock quality or so. So far, works well with no problems.

worthy replacement
Spending $10 a month for a modem trough Optimum was not a good option. Decided to get a replacement. Even though it was not new, it works fine. I did have to reboot it couple of times since I got it, as it lost the connection. Never happened with official one from Optimum (TM802). Hopefully it will not be an issue in the future.

Great when it works
When it works, it’s great. Almost everyday I have to unplug and reset. I’m not sure if it’s the unit or optimum cable butter that I’m not paying $10 per month. I just don’t know.

Product failed after two months, no manufacturer warranty
I thought I was buying this cable modem from Arris, the manufacturer, but it’s actually from a company called Flaknet. That information wasn’t indicated on Amazon’s website. Flaknet doesn’t answer their customer service phone line. I’ve left voicemail messages to no avail. This was an expensive electronic product, and to have it fail so quickly was very disappointing. Amazon will refund your purchase under their own official one month return policy but the Arris modem failed near the two month point. Lesson learned: make sure you know a product sold via a vendor on Amazon has a manufacturer’s warranty, a standard one-year warranty at a minimum. Not sure how easy that is to discover though. Maybe Amazon can include that in the product details or description section.
