High Quality Terminations Enabled Dramatic Increase in Ethernet Speed!
My Microsoft Surface notebook is a great computer except for having very slow Wi-Fi speeds. All other computer devices in the house obtain a little over 400 MBPS Wi-Fi down link speed. The Surface only obtains, at best, a little over 100 MBPS. A CAT-5 Ethernet cable wall outlet was on the opposite side of my office room computer desk. The cable connects to a Spectrum router in an adjoining room. The cable was re-routed in the walls to behind my desk. A flat stick punch tool, for telephone wire connecting, was used for terminating the CAT-5 cable ends on Keystone wall plates on both ends. The Internet download speed was still just a little above 100 MBPS. The TRENDnet Punch Down Tool was used to re-punch down the 8 wires on each Keystone receptacle. The Internet speed leaped to as high as 690 MBPS. The subscription from an Internet service cable provider is 500 MBPS down & 20 MBPS up. The TRENDtool was very easy to use with great results, a very beneficial investment!

An inexpensive, yet effective punch down tool
I purchased this tool because I needed a simple punch down tool and my local Home Depot and Lowes carried punch down tools for double the price. It does what it is supposed to do. Sure it doesn't always cut the wire completely when you punch down, but you just punch again, wiggle if you need to and you're good to go. Would I buy this if I needed this everyday for my job? Ehh, I'm sure there are better ones out there. But for wiring up my basement and other small, odd jobs, this is perfect. I've used this on Monoprice's slim cat5e punch down keystone jacks and ICC's data modules. It worked much better on ICC's data modules, but only because they were installed in a low voltage cabinet. The cat5e jacks I was holding in my hand. In that situation it's still very usable, just more of a pain, but that isn't the tool's fault. The impact selector is nice, but to be honest, I just keep it on the HI setting all the time.

Still going strong after multiple network installs!
My team and I just finished up a 30,000 square foot network install. Running cable, drops and terminating all ends in the switch room and in the walls. When you are looking for a quality punch down tool, you want it to be built well, punch well and the cutter needs to do it's job. There is nothing more annoying that trying to punch down cable and the cutter not doing it's job leaving frayed ends and not falling off. If you've done this kind of work then you know what I'm talking about. I've used this punch down tool for hours and hours and it's been amazing! What could take you a long time with a bad punch down tool, this tool makes quick work of hard jobs. It cuts true every time and actually does what it's suppose to do! I've used it on tons of patch panels in the server room and so many drops in different offices. I'm in and out in a jiffy and overall very pleased with this punch down tool.

Get's the job done!
I had an issue with one of my ethernet wall jacks in my home. A couple of the wires were not sitting correctly. I tried to push the wires in but realized I needed a punch down tool. I looked at several brands ranging from $12 to $75. The TRENDnet Punch Down Tool was listed as a top pick on several websites. And the customer ratings were very positive. This tool is very easy to use. I have a CAT 5 cable which I set the tool to LOW. Wires went in with no issue and the excess wire was snipped off very easily. I am very happy with my purchase, only $15.99.

Better than Fluke
Working as a network tech I have used most brands of punch down tools out there. The best brand for any network tools is typically Fluke....except their punch down tool. I have had nothing but issues with their tool and this punch down from Trendnet is PERFECT! Build Quality - I have used this for approximately 200 installs which would mean ~10000 terminations. I have had ZERO issues with this. I sharpened the blade around install 150 as it was getting a little dull and harder to punch. It is still working perfectly to this day Adjustments - I typically don't use any of the adjustments and keep it at a standard impact. The adjustments do work well from what i have tested. Cost - So much cheaper than Fluke it is insane. I don't know why you would go with any other brand. Warranty/Support - I haven't had any issues yet so I haven't contacted their support 5/5 - I am a huge fan of this product and I hope this review helped!

Great tool for the price.
I wired my house with Cat6a using this tool and didn't have major issues. It did have a little difficulty cutting the cables, but Cat6a is also pretty thick and difficult to cut in general. I imagine this tool would work great for Cat5. The tips are easy to swap. It comes with both 110 and krone tips, and each tip has a cutting side and a blunt side. Changing the punchdown for is also easy. Great tool for the price.
