I followed the directions to NOT use oil on the grill when cooking & it worked perfectly & was easy to clean. I believe that people who had difficulty have turned their fire up to very high. That is not good for the food & may create some carcinogens. It will also create smoke from burning the food.This grill is designed to channel grease away from the flames & heat so that it does not fall into the fire, burn & create smoke. It does that well. Adding some water to the ring around the edge will further insure that the fats do not smoke.The grill IS smokeless unless you use it over a very high temperature heat source & burn the food. A regular grill smokes because the fats fall directly into the fire & burn.

We use this to grill at home when we couldn’t go to the restaurant for koren bbq! However the waves and grooves from the plate was hard to clean! You need to soak it with soap and water right away. The steel bottom plate was easy to clean however needs a lot of soaping as oils sticks to them like crazy!

I’ve use this for Korean style bbq at home several times and it works great! The fist time I used it at medium heat and that was way too high. You have to use it on low to very low. It gets hot enough to cook 1 inch thick pork belly in 3 minutes per side. I don’t recommend using it for marinated meats as the marinade tends to burn after a while.Doesn’t produce a lot of smoke but I definitely run the room air filter on high when using it indoors.

I had one of these years ago and ended up buying myself another one through Amazon not realizing they still existed. My boyfriend loved it and so I decided to get him one for Christmas. If you want to watch the amount of fat that you put into your body this is fantastic. You just pour water into the well of the grill and then you can fry bacon, sausage, hamburgers, & steaks, and the grease drips into that well along with the water and it is absolutely delicious as far as the taste, as well as getting rid of a lot of the grease that you would normally put in your body. I recommend this highly. It's like having an indoor grill on top of your stove. You can use it with electric or gas.

Good unit for cooking but the non stick surface is not really as non stick as the other gotham products. Even coating with oil does not help. Perhaps with a better coating would help.

So the picture I attached is just after washing in the dishwasher on high heat. So non stick NO!Easy to clean? NO!As far as the cooking, we cooked just a small $24 amount of prime Ribeye steak about 1 1/2 lbsBut first we cooked some zucchini, onion and mushrooms marinated in Tare sauce.After cooking the vegetables I cleaned the grill best I could and started on the steak.Here's the thing. There was no fire hitting the steak and I have a good large flame, but still almost no charbroiled look to it, infact the ribeye came out over cooked looking like pale colored lightly seared pork.The vegetables were tasty but again no charbroilLook or taste to it.This grill is cheap and if it actually worked I would say it was under priced but in the current state it's just a waste of money.Oh and the water pan idea yeah that lasts a few minutes and then you won't even know that all the water is boiled out.The secret is that it doesn't work!
