A nice continuation for these unconventional siblings’ tales
📚 Desperately Seeking a Duchess 🏑All the Duke's Sins Book 2✒️ Christi Caldwell🌟🌟🌟🌟Will they be able to sort out their disparities to see what brings them together …This story stands alone but I would recommend to read the previous books or at last the prequel to understand the dynamic between the characters. What astonished me most is the lack of moments between Caitlin and her father outside the scolding scenes.I understood Caitlin and her plight as a lonely young woman with a thirst for knowledge, who found herself lost in a world she knows nothing about and feels like an outsider. But when she suddenly is responsible for the unemployment of the hero’s brother by shunning the rules, at first she seems to have no real qualms about it. This is no simple fact when people rely on someone’s living. So I was mad at her, until she pull her weight and uses her wit and will to have him reinstated. After that I just loved her. And the story became easier for me to read. After, I understand she took her chance because going to the city was a way to gain the knowledge she craved, but why accept at first this masquerade of turning herself into a Lady when she has no envy to be one, she could have asked her father for a compromise, and refused to be paraded among his peers when she has no need of it.She could simply have been herself enjoying the city as she longed without being trussed like a chicken to fit her absentee of a father’s desire to make amend.Hopefully she finally stands her ground and tells everyone what she wants and doesn’t.Courtland appears at first as a ne’er-do-well, even if he is a charming one. Yet at the same time, he is fun, sweet and a real tease. From his first encounter with Caitlin, sparks fly and bullets too. When they meet again, she immediately understands she has been misled, still she is at ease with this rake who is not really one.He hides behind his libertine’s way that he is a man who cherishes his people, always putting them first and himself last. An habit he has taken since childhood, trying his best to protect them from their bully of a sire. This is what endeared him to me, he is like Caitlin, longing for something else but kept in jail by his own circumstances. Then coming between them, there are Caitlin’s brothers, in overprotective mode, when for years she did fend for herself, they could have a bit more faith in herself. Still they are forgivable as they only want what they believe is best for her. There is too Courtland’s younger sister, she is quite entertaining even if her behavior is at time beyond her years. She also can act like a child of her age. After we base our judgment on our view of how things are now, when in the past, children were asked/tasked much more and from a much tender age than now ( I remember reading such demands in The misfortunes of Sophie by The Comtesse de Ségur, children were expected to so much more than now and at six, Sophie spoke and behaved like a little adult).About the debtors prison often talked about, be sure to read Barbara from Flippin’Pages review, she shares a link with enlightening informations.4 stars𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 onscreen foreplays and lovemaking scenes.I have been granted an advance copy by the publisher, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

LOVE IS A PARTNERSHIP - SHARING DIFFICULTIES & JOYS
Miss Cailin Audley is the illegitimate daughter of the Duke of Bentley, who never knew he had 4 children with his mistress until recently. Desperate to make up for years, he sends his man of business, Lord Keir Balfour, to convince her to come to London so he can introduce her to society. Because of his awkwardness with people, his twin brother, Courtland, Duke of St. James, rogue and charmer, takes his place going to the mining town to entice Cailin into coming to London. Her beauty, independence and intelligence attract him and Cailin is tempted by his understanding manner and good looks. But they are interrupted by her eldest brother, Rafe, who is outraged at his closeness to Cailin and he throws Courtland out after beating him. Months pass, Rafe is now married and living in London and Cailin finally gets to live her dream of exploring museums and books and indulge in her fascination with fossils. But she also has all the restrictions placed on her by 'polite society', which is suffocating her. When she meets the real Lord Keir and he shows no recognition she is hurt, until she meets Courtland, who tries to deny all. No one has ever been able to distinguish the twins, except for Cailin. When he explains why the deception was necessary, she understood as she too would do anything to protect her brothers. His cruel and wastrel father left his mark on all his children, demeaning them at every turn. Courtland took it upon himself to draw attention away from them and now that his father is dead, he does all he can to make up for his abuse. Courtland is a devoted brother to his twin and 3 younger sisters, giving them the love and room to express themselves freely - especially the youngest Ellie who is a precocious child. Just a step from bankruptcy, he fears he will be following his hated father's footsteps and marry for money - a fact he has kept secret.. Cailin is aware that her assumption about all peers was wrong. She enjoys her encounters with Courtland, who shares her love of books and knowledge as well as devotion to family. Her friendship with him brightens her days and for the first time she does not feel the restrictions of society in his company. Until they are discovered in a scandalous situation and all is lost. Or is it? A beautiful story of preconceived ideas, the cruelty that secrets inflict, believing in yourself, loyalty, friendship and honesty can lead you to life's most precious blessing, love!! Do not miss this amazing romance and magical story!!

Honor, Family and Love
This heroine can’t seem to do polite society the right way. The hero can’t seem to pay off all his dead father’s debts. Friendship and interest in each other sparks a great story. Each of them are comfortable and real with each other.

A wonderful second book in series
This is a wonderfully crafted second book in this great series. All the characters in this steamy at times story, are brilliantly portrayed, with the main pair having a bumpy path to tread before achieving their desires. This is a story that will keep you captivated all the way though.

Regency novel
Interesting book, although it appears there are some inconsistencies.

A good read
I enjoyed this book and have read it twice. Just a couple of errors to which I want to draw attention, an armoire is French for a cupboard not armour worn by knights of old and epaulets on a soldier's(officer) uniform are on the shoulder and usually carry the insignia of rank.I have learned to cope with American spelling and terms in novels set in England but occasionally I rebel!
