So far I am enjoying these. The directions said to use half the pack at a time. I used a quarter of the pack and it was still way too many. Not sure if I have a small piece, but I do reccomend only using a small amount at a time.I use them with enough water to cover the stem of my piece and it hits nice. They cool the water down and they look really neat.I've been rinsing and reusing the same ones for a week and they show no sign of needing thrown out yet. They also make it easier to clean resin and junk from my glass as well.Definitely worth the small price for a cool addition to my stash. Will order more when I run out.

I had expected these beads to react to water and expand to the same physical properties as the beads available in arts and crafts supply stores marketed as "Floral Beads". These beads dissolved into something resembling sludge or jello in a few days of being in water. While green in color in the dehydrated state after adding them to water these beads were almost impossible to see through clear water. The slight green hue was the only reason I could see them in the clear plastic container I used to hydrate them. I would say they were overpriced personally but I don't feel ripped off. I would say that the instructions say use eight of them, I would recommend that you take notice that it wants you to hydrate the entire packet because these hydrate to around 1/4" diameter which fit nicely through my 19MM conical joint on my water pipe.

This is the BIGGEST SCAM I have come across in a very long time.I feel so stupid and ridiculous for some how thinking it was a good idea to purchase this product.This is NOTHING but a WASTE IF MONEY & TIME!!!These things do absolutely nothing except cause aggrevation and make a mess.When you put them in the freezer after soaking them as instructed, they all exlpode or fall apart, etc.The whole point of these us to freeze them, but when you do, they get destroyed.The WORST thing is that even if they did freeze properly... This product still would not do any of the things they claim it does...Make the smoke more pure and clean? NoMake the smoke easy to handle/less burn? NoKeeps your water peice clean? NoLooks pretty and fun? NoFun to "play with?!? WFT (that's what it says on the package.) No!!!100% the worst thing I've ever spent money on... I'm actually quite embarrassed to admit that I fell for the ridiculous claims of this product.I guess I also figured, it's cheap no big deal... But this CRAP ISN'T WORTH A DIME!!!USELESSSSS, WORTHLESSSSS JUNKKKKK

They work very well for my purpose which is a water pipe they help keep the muck off the side of the pipe and they are real nice when you cook them down bye putting them in the refrigerator for a little bit makes it a very cool smoke and they look really cool too can you get a a tiny package that has thousands of them in there I don't know and despite what others have said I have used and use the ones that I got two months ago some of them have deteriorate but most of them are like they're brand new if for no other reason I will purchase another to mix up the colors just because it looks cool

Purchased for use in water pipe. They do work as described if you freeze them, however if you only do the soak/wash and then use the hit is still harsh. They do however help with the buildup of resin/tar. I was dissappointed when freezing them they are clumped together due to they are wet they are like a jelly. So then you have to break them apart by hand or with something this breaking them where they can not be reused. When using them frozen it does not last long before they are warm and loose the wanted effect. On a positive note there is a large quantity provided. If it did exactly what I had expected and lasted longer I would highly recommend this product but at this time overall I rate it as a 4/5 for effectiveness/price/quantity vs description and expectations.

I'll be up front: I never heard of this stuff before stumbling on it while browsing Amazon. I was intrigued, and decided to give it a shot as I own a large...."water pipe" (16" tall beaker style with an ice catcher).So after almost a month, here are my thoughts. 1)These beads expand A LOT once they absorb the water! The package I received was enough to fill two 1 liter bottles once they achieved full size, so unless you have a lot of glassware to fill, hydrate a pinch of the beads.2)Despite what people say, DO NOT FREEZE these beads! Freezing the beads will destroy them, so keep that in mind. You can throw them in the freezer for a few minutes to chill them, but don't forget them. I would suggest storing them in the fridge if you want to keep cold ones handy.3)These are NOT a replacement for water, they simply can't filter the way water does. They do diffuse the smoke, but the point of water is a smoother hit through filtration, not diffusion. Diffusion helps filtration, however.4)When used WITH water, these beads are great! These beads are noticeably cooler than room temp, and when in water, they will actually chill the water! It's not ice cold by any means, but it definitely makes a difference! They also help diffuse the smoke in the water so you get a smother draw!5)They DO help keep the glass clean. My glass is used heavily, and gets a large buildup of resin (and ash) at the water line. It has to be cleaned every few weeks to get rid of the buildup before it becomes too much. These beads have prevented that buildup, instead I can just change the water and rinse one a week! They don't CLEAN the "pipe", but they do prevent the buildup.6)They look cool! I wish I could find some in a deep colors, rather than the pastels I see from everyone, but even so it adds some color to my clear glass!7) I have reused the beads several times just by rinsing and replacing the water. You can dehydrate them after use and rehydrate when you need again, also. TL;DR- Cool beads get huge, great with water, makes the glass look cool and clean(er)!

So after a week in water mine have shrank down back to original size while in water. Also if you freeze them they will turn to liquid gel when they thaw out...
