I keep buying these for myself, but end up giving them to my grandchildren who love them!
These are creative, well made and apparently too fascinating for my own greedy good. I've bought a batch of these. My grandchildren, who specialize in seeing how fast something can be destructed, keep playing with them and make it clear that grandpa should consider giving them away. I can't resist them, so I do give them away and keep having to buy replacements.Every one of these I have or had, including those I've given to my demolitionist grandchildren still work. I kind of wish a few would break so they wouldn't be so fascinating to them. These are really decent, quality toys, especially considering the reasonable selling price.I'll have to hide any new ones I buy, at least for a while, so I can get to play with them!

adorable and wonderful
I love my guy. i named him goober. you have to be very careful with them because they are not made with the intention of being a toy, so i would not recommend getting any of these for children under 13, cats, or anyone you'd consider irresponsible with their possesions. but since i am not any of those things i love my guy very much and i recommend it heavily. wonderful product, absolutely beautiful.

Cute
I received one that is all silver in color with white feet. One is all you get.It takes about 14 full turns of the key (28 turns of the wrist) to wind this little guy all the way up. It might take a while for a kid to wind it up.The toy then runs around for about 7 or 8 seconds. While 7 or 8 seconds may not sound like much, this does need a lot of room to run. It moves very fast. It does not always travel in a straight line, but when it does, it moves about one foot per second. Play with this on a table at your peril. With a little imagination, the toy looks like a little dog scampering around. There are two "ears" to facilitate this effect. The one I have is able to crawl over small obstacles such as a spiral bound notebook or a smart phone. At the time I bought this, it was $9.99 and a Prime item. I'll leave it to you to decide if that is a good price point. Myself, I held back that last star in the rating because of the price. One is okay for ten bucks, but I would buy a lot more of these if the price came down.Edited to add: I see since my review was posted the price has dropped to $8.99, but now has a shipping cost of $4.95! I am removing another star. That total price is too much for this item.

Great wind-up with creepy motion!
The Le Pinch is my second Kikkerland toy, and I have to say, based on the reviews that I've read I wasn't expecting too much. Thankfully, the toy far exceeds my low expectations. I really love the way the toy writhes when crawling across a surface. It looks so much like a real worm (though the MXYKIKKER is probably creepier with its antennae!!). There are two possible issues with the toy. Firstly, because the bits can have some residual stress, I found that the body of the worm was a little warped on arrival. I squeezed it pretty hard to try to get it square, and now the toy operates pretty smoothly. In addition, because the gears are made from plastic, I worry about the longevity of the toy (though I suspect my fascination will be even more short-lived).One note to the owners whose toy suddenly stops working -- Check for hair caught in the gear train. Because of the way it crawls low against the surface, the gears are particularly prone to jamming. This is especially true if you are using the toy on a carpeted surface, since the worm effectively plunges into the carpet fibers. I had my toy jam up once, and thought that it was dead. Thankfully, removing the hair with a pair of forceps allowed the worm to spring back to life!

Durable little designs that inspire questions
Our boys saw these at a local kid's science museum, and they loved them. They don't get constant play, but both boys (8 and 13) had long talks about how each one moved and why. Every one of these has a different mechanism and method of locomotion, so they're fantastic for getting kids to think about those things. One looked at them in terms of robotics, and the other compared them to insects, topics both of them had recently been studying. The toys look delicate, but for the most part, they are made with heavy gauge wire and stronger windup boxes than most toys. Our younger son literally ripped the box apart and sent his flying, but we couldn't see any damage, and it has worked fine for several months. Smart, rugged, bizarre designs are awesome for kids. Highly recommended!

A favorite gift.
I love these toys, but more importantly, my dad loves them!I got this one for his birthday because it was one missing from his collection. Out of the 8 toys he has this is ranked lower than the rest because of the pull string. It's easier for the grandkids to use, but the string sometimes slips out of its little hoop and gets tangled.I would still highly recommend these toys, but this one has a greater likelihood of malfunction and damage.

I love the toy but it wasn't working at all when ...
I love the toy but it wasn't working at all when I bought it. I've had to keep forcing it to run, for days, until it finally started walking by itself, and only for like a couple of seconds. When I got the toy it was covered in machine oil, so I guess this was a discarded toy that wasn't working, and was simply sprayed with some substance and assumed to start working by miracle or something. There was hair in it too. This could be an amazing toy but unfortunately the one I got is quite defective.

Cool but useless
Doesnt walk, it just vibrates. In short it doesnt do much and youll get bored quite easily but its a cool looking thing!

Not as good as some of the other models
Quite fun but soon seized up and stopped working. The frame seems slightly flimsy. Other models have seemed much more durable.

Play a Gene Krupa drum solo for accompaniment
This wind up thingamagig is so spasmodic and erratically hilarious you'll be holding your stomach! The little guy will remind you of someone you've seen on the dance floor... I may just invest in the rest of the collection because it'll make me the best uncle hands down! BIG little box of smiles for twenty bucks.

Niedliches Teilchen
