Great quality steel and came sharp.
Totally impressed with the sharpness of this carving knife. It came sharp and with a little stropping was shaving sharp and seems to hold the edge well.

Solid Starter Knife—Great Value, Just Needs Frequent Stropping
I recently decided to take up whittling to keep my hands busy while listening to podcasts. I didn't want to drop $50 on a professional setup right away, so I picked up the BeaverCraft C2 6.5" Whittling Knife. My first project was a simple "comfort bird" out of a basswood block. For a beginner like me, the knife felt very approachable. I managed to rough out the shape and even get into some of the tighter curves around the tail without feeling like the blade was going to snap or slip. It’s been a great entry point into the hobby without breaking the bank. Pros: Ready to Use: According to BeaverCraft, the knife arrives razor-sharp and polished right out of the box, which I found to be true—I was able to start carving immediately. Ergonomic Handle: The handle is made of ashwood treated with linseed oil. Experts at Carving is Fun note that it is designed to fit the contours of your hand, which really helps reduce fatigue during longer sessions. Versatile Design: The straight-edge blade and thin, pointed tip make it a "jack of all trades" for both rough shaping and fine detail work on small to medium projects. Excellent Value: At around $14–$18, it is widely considered one of the best "bang for your buck" options for those just starting out. Cons: Softer Steel: While the high-carbon steel is easy to sharpen, reviewers on Reddit and Carving is Fun have noted that it may have a slightly lower Rockwell hardness (around 58–62 RC) than premium brands like Flexcut, meaning you have to strop it more frequently to maintain that razor edge. Blade Thickness: The blade is a bit thicker than some high-end detail knives, which can make it slightly harder to push through very hard woods or perform extremely delicate deep cuts. Simple Finish: Some users have mentioned that the handle finish can feel a bit "raw" or basic compared to more expensive tools, though this is purely a cosmetic issue.

The blade tip is a bit bent
The tip of the blade is a bit bent. It was my first whittling knife. I didn’t realize the issue at the beginning. Other than that, it is decent. The handle is ergonomic.
