Excellent steak knife set at a great value
I like a nice sized, weighted and sharp steak knife. These are excellent; and are reasonably priced. A great value!

Punching above their weight, er price
I'd been wanting some new steak knives for a while, since my old ones were getting pretty beat up. I bought a private label brand (from this site) a few years ago and at first I thought they were a bargain because they looked nice, felt good in the hand, and seemed to be well constructed. But they didn't cut well, and the big serrations seemed to tear more than cut. So back to my old ones I went. I like these Oaksware knives for a number of reasons. First and foremost for me, they are NOT serrated. I prefer how a sharp, smooth-bladed knife cuts meat and veggies compared to a serrated knife, and I'm reasonably adept at sharpening non-serrated knives. These are on the larger side but not ridiculous, and they have a nice heft to them without seeming overly bulky. Well balanced, these knives have great handles and are easy to, well, handle. Quality construction, with a decent grade of steel, full tang, comfortable handles, nice looking, and sharp out of the box. After nearly pulling the trigger on more expensive German-brand knives (both of the main ones), I'm glad I cheaped out a little bit and took the chance on these. My kitchen knives run the gamut from no-names, to common American brands, and vintage German knives made in Solingen, and these fit in well with my eclectic collection. They look more expensive than they were and they work very well. We'll see about durability, time will tell, but I fully expect them to last a long time, and I'm going to buy four more. Nothing not to like, except that they're a tad too wide to fit the steak knife slots in my block, so they'll stay in a drawer but that's fine.

Solid and well made.
Great set of Steak knives, honestly they are almost too robust and will also use as a paring knife. Solid and well made and should hold a excellent edge, I had returned another "house" brand due to serrated edge and inexpensive quality. These compliment my Wüsthof set nicely.

Don't put in dishwasher
Excellent ergonomic and cutting edge. "Dishwasher not recommended" needs to be "handwash only". We were lazy and used dishwasher for past year, the handles have all cracked. Blades are good enough we would be willing to buy again if company upgraded handles to dishwasher safe.

nice quality, heavy, decent edge, surprising value - they're big
> nice quality: smooth finish, well constructed, interesting finish on blade, handle smooth and comfortable > heavy: I would prefer a lighter, smaller knife but it's not enormous like some steakhouse knives > decent edge: pretty sharp and smooth out of the box but I used a ceramic hone stick to better smooth it > surprising value: I've been kinda studying knives, and the difference between these and high $$$ brands are pretty hard to distinguish (other than by name - nobody ever heard of oaksware!). My conclusion is, you can go for super hard steel, which will last longer but then require professional sharpening, or do like most chefs and use softer steel and keep it honed and occasionally sharpened. I don't know the steel grade on these but I expect it's of the latter variety, not so hard. But fact is we won't use them all that often so I'm OK with a bit of quick maintenance with a hone. Besides it's kinda fun, makes you feel like a pro! > the block is nice but we won't use it, keep them in a drawer

Very Well Made Knives
These knives arrived well boxed and very quickly. They are very nice heavy knives and they appear to be well made. These knives are very sharp and easily cut through meat and veggies. They seem to be holding an edge, and I haven't had to sharpen them since they arrived. We are not putting them into the dishwasher and only washing by hand. The reason I knocked off one star is that the block that holds the knives arrived with a crack in it that runs along the grain of the wood. The crack does not effect the function of the holder, but shows a little slip up in quality assurance. I expect that these knives will last a long time.

Super sharp
Great knife. Sharp, very sharp. A bit bigger than I expected but at least they cut nicely.

Finally, a very good non-serrated steak knife!
We don’t particularly like serrated steak knives but trying to find decent, affordable non-serrated steak knives is tough. We have a large block Calphalon knife set that included 8 serrated steak knives and, while I feel they are a decent knife, we would have preferred non-serrated. After much looking and researching, we found this 8 piece Oaksware set and ordered it. The knives arrived individually wrapped with a boxed wooden block. The knives were not razor sharp, they were SCARY SCALPEL sharp. My finger lightly bumped into one and drew blood. So be very careful handling these when you get them. The blades are thinner than the hollow ground Calphalon steak knives so at first I thought the Oakswares were a cheap knife. Not true. They are an affordable, excellent quality knife, IMO. After a dozen uses, they are still very sharp but not scary sharp like when they first arrived. I had to chuckle a little because the instructions for use said something to the affect of do not use on stoneware or hard dishes and showed a picture of cutting a steak on a wooden cutting board. Well, I don’t know about you but I cut my steak on a plate, not on a cutting board. Maybe the company wants the knives to keep their sharpness? But the real world is the real world. To reiterate, the knives are still very sharp after a dozen uses even though I cut my steak and pork chops on our stoneware plates. While I like and recommend these knives, they would not fit into my Calphalon block. The blades are taller than the Calphalon steak knives so the slots in the block were too short and the Oakswares would not insert into the block all the way. I purchased a keyhole type saw and lengthened the slots a little and the Oakswares insert fully now. Being an average guy and unable (and unwilling) to spend hundreds of dollars on so called “top quality” knives, I find these Oaksware to be a really good choice.

Tatsächlich sind die Messer schön scharf und recht gut verarbeitet. Wir nutzen sie allerdings nur gelegentlich zum Steak essen. Gespült werden diese Messer ausschließlich von Hand.
