It depends upon the bills you are working with. If they are new you can get many more that bills that have been in circulation. There is .625" under the spring mount, a new bill is about.005". That would indicate that you might be able to stuff 125 bills under the spring mount. You may be able to get more in if you do not put them all the way toward the back.

I'm not sure --- possibly a checkbook not sure about a notebook. I like the size of the box the only objection I have to it is that it has to be LOCKED in order to carry it anywhere. But serves my purpose anyway,
