Great Intro Stick
My brother was actually the one looking for a stick. He did his research and asked around the FGC (Fighting Game Community) and decided to purchase the Q1. I, being a fighting game fan as well, decided to purchase one for myself. I've always enjoyed fighting games on my consoles but they always lacked the excitement that one experiences from an arcade cabinet. The Q1 has reintroduced me to the excitement I felt as a young boy going to my local arcade to play SFII. Again, this is an intro level stick so don't expect to get high quality parts. Having said that, my brother and I have yet to experience anything negative. We've had our sticks since a bit before Christmas and I've actually already modded mine with Sanwa stick and buttons. Which brings me to my next point. If you ever decide you want to mod this stick do not fret as it is extremely easy to mod. It must have taken me about 10 minutes, if that, to replace the stick and buttons. Unfortunately modding the art is not as easy because the stock art is actually printed on the plexy.Overall I was extremely happy with the Q1 before I modded it. I just modded it because I wanted a better feel from the buttons and stick and didn't feel like dropping another $160+ for a good quality stick.P.S This stick does not have a headphone jack so you won't be able to talk to your opponents on line.

best joystick i ever owned
so let me just get this out of the way, this is a awesome joy stick get it.i am still in love with the 2D world "retro" games, spent most of my teen years in the candy shop arcades, laundry mat arcades, dudes from NY know what i'm talking about.I was raised on games like fighters history, super street fighter II championship edition & alpha, dark stalkers, xmen children of the atom, mortal kombat, killer instinct and lets not forget about neo geo cabinets wow i really miss those days, anyways. this qanba joystick is the best stick i personally ever owned i use it for my pc which i got hooked up to a 42 inch tv. first of all, the joy stick has a mode button which lets u toggle between pov and the conventional up down directional.this is great because there is no need for third party programs like joytokey which causes lag when buttons are pressed.this stick can be modded easily.i changed the button config to fit the fighting games i play, all i had to do is move a couple of wires around.its easy trust me.even with the square gate installed its easy to pull of fireballs and dragon punches.it comes with two other gates octagon and circle which i tried, also its easy to change the gates pop them off and on.the square gate worked just fine.the price is great for such a great product 79$ and it also works for the 360.if u play fighters this is a great intro to the world of joy stick.this stick will ruin what ever joy you had when using a game pad lol.get it

Works perfectly; try to ignore the confusing labeling.
The product works perfectly. Tested on the XBox 360, not yet on the PC. I'll update the review after I do so.There's just a few things off about this product that will throw a lot of people off after they receive it. One; The box it came in is labeled for PS3/PC. Two; The menu buttons [Home, Start, Back, Guide] are designed around the PS3/PC model. Three; The function buttons are a mix of backwards, and incorrectly coloured; but they are wired correctly according to the mixup. Pictures will be posted to explain.Other than that, the product seems to work perfectly. The only trouble I had with it, besides learning how to use stick itself, was swapping out the quad gate for the octo gate that came with it. It took a friend and myself an embarrassing amount of time to pop that quad gate out.

This is a great joystick for the price
This is a great joystick for the price. The desk clamps are wonderful and not something you see with many joysticks, including some that are twice this price. The default buttons work fine and there's really no need to switch them out. I did switch out the joystick with a Sanwa stick, but that was out of personal preference than anything. The stock stick works fine, especially if you're not familiar with Sanwa. For the modders, switching out the stick literally took less than 5 minutes. You remove a few screws, then unplug the cables, plug in the new ones, and screw the base back on. The box it come in also doubles as a nice carrying box, should you need to carry it places. It has a built-in plastic handle and is covered in artwork. The USB cable tucks away nicely in a closing compartment on the side of the stick. I had zero issues with installation or mapping to MAME. Worked seemlessly with several fighting games on Steam as well.

Well worth the low price.
Excellent bang-for-your-buck stick. I was sceptical at first about the small size and very light weight, but after a couple uses (and swapping the square gate out for the 8-way) it felt more natural and comfortable than my bulky Q4 RAF. The clamps are a great addition as well, popping them off for console use, and putting them back on to attach to my desk for PC use. My only complaint would be the awkward home/turbo buttons that have an odd depth to them, but it isn't a big deal considering how little I use any of those buttons. 5 stars, would certainly recommend.

... for about a month now and the buttons feel great, very responsive
I've been using my Qanba Q1 for about a month now and the buttons feel great, very responsive.I did appreciate that it came with 3 gates total, square (default installed), circle gate, & hex gate.My only complaint about the Q1 is that I do not like the Balltop that is on the stick. It feels slightly smaller than other Balltops I've used and what is really annoying to me is that it spins independently of the stick. With the ball rotating freely on top it sometimes causes me to move in directions I didn't mean.I did order a replacement Sanwa Battop that I will be replacing the Balltop with. Outside of that issue, which could only be an issue for me, it is a great pad, the clamps really hold onto most surfaces very securely, I normally have the clamps off as it just sits on my desk, but I know that is important for some people.
