Seems good right out of the box
I've played a lot of percussion and play lots of other instruments, but I've never played castanets before. I was pleased that with the instructions I was able to get them on my thumbs in a minute or two and immediately started sounding like I might know what I was doing. They sound great -- I would describe it as a high alto pitch. They sound like they'll cut right through the mix. There was an ever-so-slight difference in tone and pitch between the two, which is good.Note that these are made in Spain, appear to be handmade or perhaps CNC at first but hand finished. So you're not going to have something that looks like a perfect plastic piece popped straight from the mould. These are the real deal. They look great and if you look closely you can see irregularities in the shape and sanding. But they sound great, click great, and overall I'm pleased. I'll be spending a lot of time with these until I actually definitely know what I'm doing.Note: The instructions are definitely written originally in Spanish and translated into English, French, German, and Italian. The translations are...not great. I can vouch that the English and French have numerous typos and are perplexing at times due to typos or mixed up words, but I was able to eventually figure things out. Look up a YouTube video in your favorite language to learn to play castanets if you need to!(I am a Vine reviewer but I paid for these myself).

These are wonderful!!
I needed a pair of castanets for my ballet solo next month (Spanish Fairy Doll) during which the dancer uses castanets. I’m a professional musician as well as a dancer, so I figured I’d be able to punctuate my dance with castanets, successfully. 🙂 I looked at many castanets on Amazon and researched for the the ones with the best appearance, functionality, composition, and of course the most positive reviews. These castanets seemed the best in all those areas. When they arrived in the mail (in just four days!), I was so excited to open the box! I was not disappointed!! They were everything I expected and more! Beautiful wood craftsmanship, authentic sound, they are perfect! Thank you so much! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Beautiful sound and feel
Love my new Catañuelas. I just thought it included a little bag to carry and store them, but that is the least of my worries. I can come up with something.

They are beautiful but they are too small, like for a child

Perfect size
There are two sizes shown before you purchase the product, size 5 and 8. As someone looking to get into castanets, I chose this one and I chose size 8.It fits perfect for my hand which wouldn't accomodate size 5. I'm just a beginner but I'd say the sound feels authentic.
