Release Date: 5/15/12 Nearly a decade deep in the rap game, Mike has released five critically hailed records and won a Grammy for best Rap Collaboration with Outkast for the song "The Whole World." But, in no uncertain terms, Mike will tell you that R.A.P. Music is his finest accomplishment. He'll even call it a "classic." Of course, every rapper calls every one of their albums a classic. The only difference is that Mike's right. Review: A powerful RAP album. - This is what RAP can be when you remove the fluff, the pop, the PCness of the day... and get back to sending a message in a powerful and unique way. Killer Mike sheds light on what is wrong in our society in a series of telling and informative songs. He's rebellious from the begining to end and there is no apologizing. This isn't the brand of HIP HOP that is prevelant on the radio waves... No way the powers that be would stand for any of this. This is RAP. He takes shots at commercial artists (Jay-Z?) with lines about the Forbes List being a MFing Whores List... He points out police/government abuse and hypocracy throughout the album and sticks to the message. There is no let up. The best part is that the message is wrapped in a sweet set of beats. They hit hard, paying homage to RAP of the late 80s and early 90s. Highly recommended. Review: That old-time religion - 1988-age 12. I'm sitting in the passenger's seat of a red convertible. the high school kid driving the car puts on N.W.A.'s Straight Outta Compton. My world will never be the same. 1993: Driving through Times Square in a white jeep with the top down, Enter the Wu-Tang goes in the tape deck. Again things change. FFWD to 2012-Killer Mike's R.A.P. Music hearkens back to the music that came out of the Bronx and scared the $#&% out of your parents. Forget Kanye and his disco lights and his fashion shows and full length films, this is Boyz in the Hood, Menace 2 Society, Ice Cube, RUN DMC, Geto Boys, and Public Enemy. Intelligent and driven, this is a complete album with enough moods to satisfy most people, from the wistful "Anywhere But Here" and "Willie Burke Sherwood", to the war drums of "Don't Die" and "Big Beast", to the introspective micro/macro reverie of "Reagan", to the soaring and spiritual title track. If you want to hear Kanye and Jay Z singing about how they're better than you over a catchy beat, buy "Watch The Throne". If you want a love song to hip hop, buy this.

Masterpiece
My jaws dropped when I first listened to this album. It was like the first time hearing Ice Cube's Death Certificate back in middle school. I remember how it was so raw and unapologetic and yet socially conscious and intelligent. These exact thoughts came to mind when I first heard R.A.P. Music. Mike Bigga took no prisoners on this one. Backed by El-P's ingenious and hard hitting beats, Killer Mike delivers his high energy rhymes with a furious tenacity that hasn't been seen in rap for quite some time. These two highly talented artists came together and cooked up a masterpiece. If you are a fan of rap, then you must support real rap and buy R.A.P. Music.

One of my all time favorite albums of recent years
This album is classic hip hop material. Every single track is legendary, and this ultimate lead to the greatest that is now Run The Jewels. Mike shows that there's no age limit on hip hop, and he dropped his best album in his late 30's. There's one turn up song, and even that has excellent lyricism. There's a song for every scenario. I've been listening to this album nonstop for the past 2 years, and I can still listen to it like it just dropped to this day. Standout songs are Reagan, Anywhere But Here, Untitled and Ghetto Gospel

Vinyl Review: Great Music, Great Sound Quality
I bought this as a Reddit Secret Santa gift. I already own it (bought from a record store) and it quickly became one of my favorite rap records I own. Sounds great and is a nice gift for any vinyl fan with an ear for rap and hip hop. I'm not a big fan of newer rap, but I am super impressed by a select few hip hop artists, RTJ being one. JUST BUY IT!

Hells to the Yeah!!!
Been a long time fan of Killer Kill since those days when he was kickin it with the 'Kast. Just recently found his underground tapes and have had them on constant shuffle/repeat. R.A.P Music is a straight up bonafied R.A.P album that any fan of lyrics, not gimmicks, will appreciate. From the high powered super fast paced "GO" to the slow methodical political history lesson of "REAGAN" this album is the bizzness. I had bought the Kanye Cruel Summer album but after listening to R.A.P Music, I forgot all about it, sorry Yeezy, better luck next time.

The aesthetics make this a classic
This album can be broken down into four points, one negative and three positive. 1. (-) Killer Mike isn't the most talented lyricist you'll ever listen to, despite him trying to tell you otherwise (he's still good, though) 2. (+) El-P's production is top-notch (as always), yet not over-stated enough to take away from the verses; it's a perfect compliment 3. (+) Killer Mike's lyrical content is on-point and more powerful than most artists bring to the table these days 4. (+) It's a contender for 2013 album of the year, so buy it.

Not the Killer Mike I remember ..
When did Killer Mike get so deep? I'm probably ignorant but the last time I heard Killer Mike on a track was Chamillionaire's 'Southern Takeover' in which he killed it on his verse. I just didn't think he could produce a record like this one. My jaw literally dropped when I heard 'Reagan.' I know you can learn different things from music, specifically rap music, but this was powerful information he was telling. There is not a dull moment on this album. El-P produces the entire record and he keeps the beats in tune with mics flow and aggressiveness. Solid record that I'm going to be bumping for a while.

It's Killer Mike, produced by El-P. It's the precursor to Run the Jewels and a solid record. Grab the green vinyl while you can, it looks as good as it sounds.

If you thought that R.A.P. Music sowed the seeds for Killer Mike's and El-P's supreme RtJ collaboration, I think you'd be right, but might be at risk of overlooking just how great a rapper Killer Mike was (and remains to this day). Re-issued on its tenth anniversary; no need to pay scalpers on Ebay for original records, nor make do with the MP3 version because the imported records were so expensive.

"I've never really had a religious experience, in a religious place. Closest I've ever come to seeing or feeling God is listening to rap music." This is the first collaboration between Killer Mike and El-P (who produced the entire album), and it's incredible. This is what real hip hop is. Forget about Jay-Z and Kanye, or Drake or A$ap. Mike and El-P beat any of them hands down. Stand out tracks include : Southern Fried Reagan where Mike's anger and scorn come out of every word R.A.P. Music Also check out the album that El-P and Killer Mike produced together under the name "Run The Jewels". It's as good as this, with both Mike and El-P rapping an every track.
