Big hit here
I bought two copies to give as gifts but then my 7 and 9 year old saw them and so they’ve been completing them instead. Gets them off the screens for a little while.

Great fun for my 8 year old
My son loves these activity books and will happily sit and do them for a quiet half hour wind down time. He enjoys following the story whilst completing the puzzles.

For my 8 years old grandson.
I got this for my 8 years old grandson. When he comes to visit he always asks to go on my tablet, and I always try to find something else for him to do.This book is a lovely alternative to tablets and other devices. This book has plenty of puzzles of varying difficulties. He's not finished the book yet and he's needed a little help with some of them. This has been a lovely way to spend quality time with my grandson, priceless.

Good mixture of children's puzzles bound by a story.
My 8 year old enjoyed working through this magical book. The book contains a lot of puzzles and there is plenty of variety. The story links the puzzles together and good reading practice. The many fun illustrations can be coloured in with pencils, for even more enjoyment. Good value for money.

More puzzle fun from this fab series
This is one of a brilliant series published by Collins that combines a reader-centered story quest with puzzles and clues to get you to your goal. It’s well thought out and offers hours of engaging fun. My only criticism of it is that it’s printed on low quality, uncoated paper and can only be used once. The challenges comprise a wide range of puzzles involving numbers and verbal and non-verbal reasoning. So, there are mazes, word searches and scrambles, number puzzles, sequences, sudokus, spot-the-difference and more. Each successfully completed task provides you with a clue to aid you in your story quest. The answers to all the puzzles are included at the end of the book, so children working independently can easily check if they’re on the right track. I imagine children at the lower end of the target age group of 7+ would need help both to read the story and the instructions. As mentioned, I would like to have seen this printed on better quality paper and with the use of color to make it more appealing. However, this would have pushed up the price, which I guess would be hard to defend with this being a single-use purchase because of the need to write in the book. That said, I do think it’s worth the £5 price tag given the depth and breadth of content that is both fun and educational. Thanks for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful. You can find more reviews of children’s books and puzzles and educational toys and games on my Amazon profile page.
