great set-up
great set up for worm composting with great instructional booklet. The lining sheets for the worm tea is a great addition. also, spigot for decanting worm tea is idiot proof with it's on off design which is helpful with small children around.

Hard to maintain
No matter what I did the worms crawled out. They were just all gone one day. It was a waste of my money.

A first step in the right direction
If you are looking to make your first steps towards sustainable living, this is a good place to start. In landfills, decomposing fruit and vegetable scraps release methane and the nutrient rich soil that they leave behind is buried in contaminated filth. It's a terrible waste. Partnering with some red wigglers can change all of that. Your happy worms will eat up fruits, veggies, egg cartons, egg shells, coffee grinds, grass clippings, leaves, corn cobs, you get the idea. In return for a dark quiet corner somewhere and some trash, worms will supply you with fabulous soil. All methods of composting will deliver nutrient rich soil, but vermicompost is prized for its unique ability to hold moisture. If you have the money, this worm house is worth it. Although you can grow worms in pretty much anything (plastic totes, dresser drawers), this system has some great features. Worms are easy to drown but need a lot of moisture to reproduce at a high rate. The catch and drain guard against worm drowning deaths. The released "tea" can be used as fertilizer. The 5 trays can be used to separate compost from worms and create a barrier against fruit flies (fill the top tray with bedding). The kit did come with all the extras which was helpful. After s month of use, there were no worms clogging the spout (see pic) and only one worm hanging out in the catch area. Worms can eat up to half their weight in food per day. 1000 worms is about a pound. Worms reproduce well in good conditions, making 2 or 3 eggs per week, each averaging 3 wormlings, but it takes about 3 weeks for eggs to hatch into juveniles and another 7 or so weeks for the juviniles to become adults. Adults then live 3 to 5 years. Thus a small amount of initial worms can quickly grow into a scrap eating machine, but give it a few months.

Easy to set up, good quality, great purchase
Probably one of the smoothest and best purchases on Amazon. I placed the order with free ground shipping to have it arrive less then 48 hrs later. The directions were very easy and clear to read, with the company even throwing in a free plastic clear/white newer tray for no cost. I set it all up in less then an hour and am very happy with my purchase. I would recommend to anyone

nice little hut
For a worm hut this is the best one I have used. I also have a worm factory which is not nearly as good or cheap. I really like the idea of 5 gallon bucket worm tubes in planter boxes and do that over the winter for my worms. Mine are thriving in this, they are outside and temps are low 30's at night. I just drape a tarp over the box and it works good.

Worm Tower Power!
My worms are happy. I filled it with my worms and shavings from the diy bin that I built. I find these trays are easier to lift than the much heavier diy bin. Plus it seems more contained. I keep mine in the pantry because they do really well in there. I hear these worms like traveling back and forth more than up and down. I've found they travel in all directions!
