The Crucifixion of the King of Glory: The Amazing History and Sublime Mystery of the Passion Paperback – Big Book, 21 February 2022

Heard the author interviewed on Eric Metaxis's radio show and immediately bought this book. It far exceeded my expectations regarding not just the illuminating material she brings forth, but for me the real treasure is that, being a lawyer, she provides proof for every fact she produces. This isn't just conjecture, or someone's opinion about Christ's final days--this is hard evidence!I'm a Protestant-turned-Catholic, and this was my first exposure to anything regarding the Orthodox Catholic faith, but I was fascinated to learn about it and the life-long reverence the author holds for Our Lord.Although she is both a lawyer and theological scholar, this is not a dry or boring read. Does it repeat certain facts and arguments throughout the book? Yes, it does. But let's give her some grace here, and remember that if this were a case being presented before a judge (which it is--you're the judge!), then any decent lawyer is going to repeat critical assertions of their case to be certain the judge is keeping them foremost in their mind as new facts and evidence are introduced throughout the case.Did I occasionally find the repetition annoying? Could the editing have been a bit more polished? Yes, and yes. However, when you balance those two things against the mounds of new and compelling evidence she introduces, any nit-picking about presentation vanishes. For instance, if you read the Biblical account of how the people welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem, you're confounded by how that same crowd turned against him when he stood before Pilate. It just doesn't make any sense! Turns out, there's a good reason why: Christ's betrayal was far more sinister than we've ever understood it to have been. Knowing the details she presents about His trial and death makes His sacrifice even more astonishing than you already believe it was.If you truly love Christ, you'll want to read this book. And, I can't wait for her next book to come out!PS: I'm buying 2 more copies of it to give as gifts.

This book consists of a thorough walkthrough of the passion story of Jesus Christ. Every step is carefully examined and discussed in its historical and theological context. I particularly enjoyed the part about the several trials Jesus went through, and why and how they did or did not fit in with the law of the land.The level of detail helps concretize the events and bring the story to life. In the entirety of the book the author provides us with all the sources for her conclusions so the reader can dive even deeper into each detail.

If you want to understand the passion from many viewpoints this is it, some of the chapters feel repetitive but again it’s from several viewpoints.

Really well researched and learn something new from it every time I read, and I am an avid Bible reader. Would recommend this book to anyone! Author should be proud of her work! Bought this book after hearing the author a few times on Eric Metaxas Show podcast.

I loved this book. So many unexpected details about the life and times of our Lord. I have read the authors other book and the Orthodox Christian Mind which is also worth a read. Thanks.
