A Queen of Ruin (Deliciously Dark Fairytales - B&tB Book 4)

Great story telling.
Kept up a very satisfying pace the whole way through. Full of colourful, humorous characters. The only thing I would change is there are soooo many in depth sex scenes that in any other book I would assume they were trying to make up for a lack of plot. I figured out early on though you can just skip through them without missing anything, if you're more into the story than the porn side.

Loved This Series. 🖤
This was a fantastic series and I've loved every book. This epic last story was exhilarating and kept me flipping the pages like a mad woman. The characters were very unique and intriguing, and I definitely had a few favourites who I fell in love with. There are still a few characters I'd love to see spin off stories for.If you like your fairytales on the Darker side with hilarious witty humour, lots of kinky fuxkery, plenty of heat and you want to laugh your ass off and fall hard for some unforgettable characters, then pick up this series today. 🖤

Brilliant series!
This series was full of sex and if you can get past that it is a really good read. The basis of the story is one of survival and boy, did they have to battle for it. For me, there was also so many laugh out loud moments - always to do with Hadriel and even Leala. Brilliant characters. All the characters were riveting and made the story whole. I really enjoyed it. It was a fast paced, grab you by the neck, keep you on your toes story. Great author!

Outstanding!
I've thoroughly enjoyed this entire Quadrilogy.Unlike other authors, this series of books doesn't drag. Halfway through book 5, I'll just stop reading and give up. Each instalment serves a purpose and moved the story along. It was wonderful to see Haddon discover his animal and understand his purpose, as well as the other characters from the second half of series, reveal their personalities and drives.Character development is so important and I really dislike FMC, who lack intelligence and self awareness. Thankfully in this series that was not the case. The last couple of chapters were important as it showed the protagonists in a time of resolution , highlighting the difference between fighting for survival and Living.Although I've read many books by this Author,I have deeply enjoyed the level of sarcastic wit and banter in this series, (also the Dragon sex, but I'm a shameless pervert) and let's not forget the interesting choice of clothes 😂This is one of my two favourite series of all time in kindle.

Finally ended
This book was good, it just dragged with the pointless sex scenes that I just scrolled through as they were either Repetitive or deterred from the actual plot. The ending is anticlimactic.I only really read this because I read the others. I do feel this did not need to be a 4 book series.

Amazing but fragmented
Enjoyed the book and have really loved the series. K.F Breene never disappoints with the story lines & creativity. This series has definitely taken me through all the motions. I’m sure it’s going to be one of my favourite for re-reads. This book really had me going through it & I’ve laughed & laughed and ugly cried at certain points too. I adore books that can get you to be so invested the way this one did!Whilst I enjoyed the overall theme of the book, I must say I really struggled to get through this one. The multiple view points took away from the story for me and I found it to be distracting and ended up causing me to start skim reading which wasn’t great. I am autistic though so I don’t like it when there’s more than 2/3 pov’s anyways (which is why still a 4* as this is sorely personal preference). The lead up to the battle had been really tense so I expected more of a show, but again this is more to do with the pov’s! I wish their story could have ended in their own view point rather than H’s as it felt a bit rushed but overall still enjoyed the book!

A nail-biting end to a fantastic series
This was another series by this author that just kept getting better and better with each book. Since this book picks straight up from where Book 3 finished off, you need to have read that one, as well as the other books in this Beauty and the Beast retelling, before picking this one up to wrap up the series. There was plenty of action, intrigue aplenty as enemies came at the main couple from every which way and all the answers to the questions keeping fans of this series up at night. The world building remained strong and, as always by this author, the secondary characters were top notch and an absolute pleasure to read. The author chucked in a few more characters' points of view in this book and while this can sometimes annoy me, I really enjoyed it here, especially the chapters from Hadriel's POV (only K.F. Breene could pull off such a great start to a book from a secondary character's perspective). He continued to be a constant source of humour in the book and I adored his character throughout the series. In A Queen of Ruin, he remained a steadfast and loyal support to Lexi and I loved him. Vemar and Weston were also firm favourites of mine. As for our main couple, there was a surprise or two thrown in but they remained a strong power couple that I couldn't get enough of. I think K.F. Breene is one of the best (if not the best) in the business for writing strong, kick-you-know-what women that are both likeable and remain true to form throughout her novels. Lexi continued to be everything I want to be when I grow up and I loved how she stayed a powerhouse of female empowerment and might right up to the end of the book: unpretentious, true to her less-than-grand origins, loyal, family-orientated and highly intelligent. As for Nyfain, he continued to be delicious, his dedication and obsession with Lexi an absolute turn-on as he respected her for who she was while still trying to get his own way and throwing spectacular tantrums along the way. It should be weird that I loved his rages, right? Okay, then.As was expected, the long overdue run-in with the demon king finally comes to ahead and while I thought there'd be a bit more involvement by and getting to know the other kingdoms, the great battle scenes more than made up for any extra details I wanted to get my greedy little hands on. I loved the explanations throughout the plot regarding Lexi's knowledge of plants and the everlass as well as the details the author adds in about the magical world in general. I thought the eventual journey to the demon kingdom and the showdown with Dolion would be extended a bit more than it was (the battle was great, but their arrival and confrontation seemed on the quicker side), but this wasn't a big deal in the long run, just a personal observation. The readers get to finally solve the mystery of Hanna and his animal and the dynamic of the wolves and the dragons coming together was also dynamite. For those chasing it, there was plenty of the steam that's been one of the features of this series. There were rough smexy times, Lexi gushing like a waterfall every time Nyfain looked her way again and even a bit of voyeurism and public hanky panky. Oh, and Nyfain's dirty talk is definitely on the heavier side for those that might need a warning - I love a good cuss so this didn't worry me. To be honest, I skipped over bits and pieces of these scenes. While the content didn't worry me in the least (a lot of my reading dives into the darker side of things), there had been quite a bit of it by the time you get to Book 4 and I'm generally far more interested in this author's excellent world building and story line so I tend to rush over the dong hugging to get back to the plot. But if you're looking to live vicariously through book characters and get down and dirty with them, this will tick a lot of boxes (excuse the pun - boom!) for you. There's rebuilding of the kingdom and its villages, near-death experiences, visits to the faery kingdom (hello, Nyfain's ex), action in droves and plenty to keep readers turning the pages. The author ended a few of the chapters with hints of what was to come which was different but I actually liked this because it helped me prepare mentally for the coming you-know-what-storm. The book definitely ended on a high note for me and while I'm sad this series has come to an end, I'll definitely be re-reading it again in the future, especially Books 3 and 4 which were absolute standouts for me.To finish, while there was action, mayhem, magic and intrigue aplenty, the story was definitely one of romance and fated mates. In the words of Nyfain to Lexi , 'There is no before you. There is no after. There is only you. Always.' Swooooon. FFS, Breene, stop ruining all other book boyfriends for me :)

Brilliant
Same absolutely brilliant storytelling and writing as is the norm for this author. As with the other three books, the story had me mesmerised and hooked. So many emotions and so many pearls to clutch (if needed)

Series Review!
I have truly dragged my feet on reviewing this series for FOUR whole books. I kid you not. I speed read books one through three and waited and waited for the last book anxiously. Why, you ask? Let me explain. So, just like everyone out there, I have a few no-no tropes. K. F. Breene totes blew through those dislikes and killed it by making her book so damn interesting I don’t think I could ever stop talking about this series. This book, like many before it, is a Beauty and Beast retelling and I’ve greatly opened my mind to B&B retellings after ACOTAR (I mean, of course); but did I expect to walk into this book with all its emotions, struggle, pain, humour and love? No. Absolutely not.The plot was the strongest, absolutely consistent part of this series. There’s a big main plot and many many sub-plots that all weave in and out of one another and once resolved, end up support the main plot. Thinking back I never really even thought about what was happening and where Breene was taking us, I was just moving along with the story, enraptured. It was after everything wrapped up and I’m sitting and thinking about it that I realized how well Breene has crafted this whole series. How she hid so many little pieces of the puzzles from us in her pocket, probably snickering at us the whole time when we didn’t figure things out until perhaps just before she revealed it. *grumbles* I was blindsided almost throughout; if I ever did predict or guess which direction Breene was taking something it was one page before the reveal, max. I don’t allow myself points for that, she’d practically spoon fed us by that point. The world building was amazing. The heroine for the most part is oblivious about the magical world and it’s rules. She learns a lot and the readers learn with her and she remains oblivious to some things which again I enjoyed Breene’s reason for writing it so. There may be one or two things that I’m still not a hundred percent certain on, but that’s mostly because I was speed reading to see what’s going to happen next. Everything else that’s essential and important Breene ensures we know exactly when we need to.The characters are the absolute strength to this story. I know I said the plot was amazing, but I just want to add the characters: primary, secondary, tertiary and whatever ever other circle they occupy were so fantastically written with each owning their own distinct well-developed personalities that you read a dialogue and you most often than know who’s saying it. (Breene wrote a little post that clearly explains why this is the case which I thought I should mention because why not?) The characters were never props for the plot and vice versa. Perhaps she’s done some service to us readers and her characters in some ways, but after four books of struggle the protagonists and everyone truly deserve it.The writing is captivating and the way that Breene has us perceive somethings were so amazing. Especially in the first book, where she defined torture in such a painful and heartbreaking way. It’s interesting she uses humour at times to do it, but that never takes away from the hurt and struggle that the character/moment is describing.I enjoyed the way Breene worked all of the aspects of her story with one another until everything fit together so beautifully, I almost cried. She also wrote so well that by the time she had finished the story of the main protagonists in this book, I had made my peace with their story and was seven hundred percent ready for whatever else she was to wow us with next. Please blame her story set-up strategies that she did so well I’m already invested in like TWO couples just off the top of my head.Additionally the plot resolution! Oftentimes when a series happens to be this long, the plot target is hard to achieve or is built up to such a point that even the resolution has to truly blow our minds which means it almost always falls short in the readers’ hearts. That being said Breene did a fantastic job with the plot resolution by building up and building down situations just right. Truly kudos to that. It’s not easy.I highly highly recommend this series. Five stars for the whole series from me! It’s absolutely FREE for KU subscribers!

will leave you wanting more!
This series has been epic! I’ve been completely enraptured and as I neared the end I was just hoping there would be more to come (maybe one day )From the beginning Finlay was strong and courageous . She’s quirky and intense and our golden prince broody and intense in a different way.A beauty and the best retelling that will have you feeling all the emotions! I laughed and cried and was rooting for a happy ending!Loved it!
