This is the set my professor had us purchase but they work great. I have used bad pastels before and these are not that! They have great color and are good for layering, just make sure your paper is good too. They break easily but they're still useable in smaller chunks. The professor had us break them in half anyway for easier handling.

Product is what I expected and was shipped within one week in order for me to use right away for a class I am taking.

My husband loves these, and I love the art he created with them!

For times when I want color but in a sketch, rather than by painting, this allows a hybrid approach.

They were all broken when they arrived...

These hard chalky sticks are really bad. I bought them thinking I was getting the same texture as the earth colors but you can forget that. They do not glide on with a creamy consistency as the others. The problem: the earth colors are made in France; the multi-colored ones are made in China and they are pure crapolla! According to Dick Blick's technical dept., this is a common complaint. Conte' has let their customers down on this big time and they don't seem to care (anything to save a few francs)! You need a toothy paper with these and you also will get plenty of dust. Save your money; don't buy!

These are lovely crayons, I bought these for a Christmas present for an artist friend of mine I've got some and I find them very useful for outlining an artwork. I would recommend these to anyone.

Got these for my Dad who's quite a good artist and the stuff he's producing with them is just amazing they arrived in good time and all in tact which I was worried about great value for money.

Were as described. I use them for finer details on my pastel paintings. Very pleased with the colours.

A harder pastel that works well for more detailed effects alongside the more softer pastels. Can be used on all types of pastel papers

I love Conte crayons, and this assortment is a wonderful pallette to work with. Definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to experiment with this medium.
