This group piano text teaches rhythm, technique, theory and chords but does not teach music reading. It is not a self-learn text, but needs a facilitator in order to go through it. It is geared towards a 14-15 week class, with review chapters included for tests. The pieces are great fun, with cover songs from today as well as yesteryear. Every piece was chosen in order to display an accompaniment style that is typical for lead sheet use. Ear training is important to the book, as it ends with figuring out a suggested song.
