The "chills come thick and fast" (Los Angeles Times) in this riveting, jolt-a-minute thriller about an innocent-looking doll inhabited by the soul of a serial killer who refuses to die. From the director of Fright Night, Child's Play comes complete with "excellent special effects" (Leonard Maltin) and a slew of special features that make this 3-disc set your "friend to the end!" Review: This movie is awesome and the best movie - I love this movie I was scared to watch it but then I realized that the movie wasen't scary so I watch it and I love it to this day I love this movie and I also love the child's play 2 movie that one was good love the killing of the teacher scene on child's play 2 the teacher had what was coming to her love that scene love child's play and child's play 2 saw child's play 3 was not at all happy with it it was the worse movie the movie I hated it I thought that movie was lame and stupid don't waste your time seeing child's play 3 not worth the time effort or money put into it if you want watch child's play and child's play 2 good movies those two movies are way better then child's play 3 and I also had no desire to watch and see the bride of chucky or seed of chucky they just look very stupid a doll having kids now come on now worse then seeing child's play 3 and seed of chucky put together never will see them they both look stupid but what movie is really creepy and weird was the new movie they came out with and it was called curse of chucky that was a half decent movie better then child's play 3 and bride and seed of chucky I rather watch curse of chucky That movie was way better to see then these other movies these other movies not worth the time effort money and defently not worth every penny save your money if you want to get chucky movies get child's play child's play 2 and curse of chucky you won't regret it you will love those movies better then these other ones take my advice watch child's play and child's play 2 and curse of chucky those movies are awesome and they are very good movies worth the money and worth every penny put in not the other ones though save your money and get child's play child's play 2 and get curse of chucky trust me you won't be sorry you will love and enjoy them those ones are good for any chucky fan curse of chucky scared the crap out of me that's why I love it the part that creeped me out on it was the part when the girl peeled his face off watch that scene and you will see what I mean especially when the eyeball comes down the stairs then the person comes falling down the stairs or the scene when the priest heads comes of in the car gory scenes still a good movie love it worth every penny and worth your money great for any horror or chucky fan I would defently recommend child's play child's play 2 and curse of chucky buy those other movies save your money don't buy bride or seed of chucky you are wasting your money and time get these ones they are far more better then bride and seed of chucky those movies look really lame and stupid don't like them don't care for these two movies not worth the time I am not watching something that is lame and stupid and not worth my time if you do buy them you are wasting your money get the other ones they are far more better then bride and seed of chucky but you can buy them if you want I am just saying and letting you know you are wasting your time and money you can buy what you want I got 2 disc DVDs of child's play the first one because it is so good and I got curse of chucky I didn't get child's play 2 yet but I will because child's play 2 is so good to I give child's play one and two 5 stars and curse of chucky 5 stars as well bride and seed of chucky I give them only 1 star if you love lots of gore if you are a gore fan I recommend that you get curse of chucky it has a good amount of it in it it has a lot more in it then the other chucky films you won't regret it or you won't be sorry get curse of chucky if you are a gore fan you will love it I highly recommend it worth every penny Review: Hi I'm Chucky!! Wanna play?!?! - The Film: Child's Play Year Made: 1988 Overview: The Lakeshore Strangler is chased down by a detective. The detective shoots the famous killer and he dies, or does he? Determined for revenge, even after death, the killer is able to send his spirit into a doll right before he dies. A determined mother finally gets her child the doll that that he thought he always wanted. The child soon finds out that his doll named Chucky is not your average play time doll as will soon be discovered! Package: 5 Stars When I bought this DVD, I had not idea this package would be so cool. This is not just a regular cover, it comes with a hologram cover with Chucky on the front. When you turn the cover slightly, Chucky will just look at you with a innocent look on his face. When you move it some, he will look at you with wide eyes and a knife will appear in his hand! This alone was such a great surprise to receive. The cover slides off and then a normal looking DVD is inside. The DVD itself looks cool with graphics on the disc itself. The holder holds the disc in place very well, and yet it is the push button pop out kind, so it's easy to remove from holder also. I wish all holders were of this same type, as it would make taking out DVDs a whole lot easier. The DVD itself includes the trailer for the film as well as some cast information. There was no insert at all included when I opened the case, but all and all, this is a very nice package. Spook Meter: 3 Stars If you enjoy the whole killer doll concept as much as I do, if you enjoy a little humor mixed in as well, your going to love Child's Play. This film has some spooky scenes too it and it's very fun to watch. It's not a super scary film, but what makes this all come together so well is young Andy, as well as the whole look of Chucky. This makes for a scary, and a believable concept that flows really well in the pace of events that occur as you watch this film. All the little details, really add to the creepy feeling. The TV going on when Chucky decides that he will watch the 9 'O' Clock news, I love that part! It's creepy and is a nice slow build up to more things that occur later as the pace picks up gradually faster. I don't want to give away many details. One of the very best things that you will love is when Chucky laughs! It sticks with you, long after the film has ended and in this case, that's a great thing. Gore/Violence Meter: 3 Stars. There is some blood/gore, but if you looking for a high blood splatter gore fest, you won't find it here. This gets ranked 3 stars for mainly violence. If people and a doll being shot, a few fairly mildly graphic stabbings with a little blood don't bother you, then you will be fine watching Child's Play. Profanity Meter: 3 Strikes. There is a fair amount of bad language in this film that maybe offensive to some viewers. Sexual Meter: 1 Strike. This film is pretty much a 1 star on the sexual meter. There is zero nudity, zero bed scenes, no make out stuff what so ever. I will note one tiny part that shows nothing, but is on the suggestive side. A woman tries to ask a man for information regarding the doll. The man wants her to pay for his information, she tries to give him money but he wants her body instead. He pushes her and the suggestive part is that he wants to sexually assault her, when she is then saved by the detective. There is nothing shown, but it's something that I just wanted to give a note of warning too about that one part. Final thoughts: I love this film! what can I say, I'm a huge Chucky fan. This is a film that I can watch over and over again. It's fun/scary/funny horror all mixed into one film that leaves you wanting more and thinking it ended way to soon because it was just so fun to watch. If you love horror films, you can't go wrong with this one. Give this a try, you will love Chucky! Overall, this is a 5 Star film without a doubt! I must note also that yes I would love to see Child's Play on widescreen as well as other reviewers have stated also. This version is full screen but don't worry. I read recently that a 20th anniversary special edition of Child's Play is coming soon! Don't give up hope, Chucky is going to celebrate his birthday and I'm sure he will get the widescreen treatment alone with some new extras that is sure to please any Chucky fan. Whatever you do, I suggest any fan of Chucky should for sure pick up this full frame version as well though. Trust me when I say, the hologram cover is worth the price in itself.

The definitive killer toy film.
This film is a classic. While not the first to explore the "toys come to life and are evil" idea, this film still stands up today. Dispite it's more comedic sequals and countless imitators, the original Child's Play is suspenseful even though you know the doll's alive, because you're waiting for the moment when it reveals itself to be. The story focuses on a boy named Andy Barkley, and his mother buys him a 'Good Guy' doll off a street peddler. Andy seems convinced the doll is talking to him, and after a series of murders his mother also becomes suspicious. It's only a matter of time before the Doll reveals it's true nature, and proceeds to stalk the family. This Blu-Ray package also includes the 20th Anniversary DVD, so if you don't have a Blu-Ray player but are thinking about getting one, get this anyway so you don't end up buying the same film twice. Both the DVD and Blu-Ray include the same special features, with the only difference being the Blu-Rays fancier menus. The Blu-Ray's video quality is naturally better, with images appearing sharper with more detail, and less grain than on the DVD version. The audio is also improved, with both discs including various commentaries. There are some making-of documentaries and some small clips of a CGI Chucky saying various things. Although I really hope that this CGI Chucky has nothing to do with an apparent re-make, it doesn't look very good! Even without the extras, the film is amazing and a classic. It has earnt its place in movie history as one of those films that changed the way we think, the same way Jaws made us scared of the water. This Blu-Ray release does a great job in keeping a whole new generation of film viewers scared of their toys, and that's just perfect!

Dewee Day Dem Bal Ah Give me the 20th Anniversary Edition I Beg of You. Comparison of DVDs below.
A worthy edition of Child's Play hits shelves on September 9th as a nice appetizer before Halloween which is most horror fans version of Christmas. What better gift then a good guy doll. Chucky has become a horror icon over the years. Directed by horror contributor Tom Holland who also directed Fright Night . Holland also wrote Psycho II and the screenplays for the brutal Class of 1984 and the classic 80s film Cloak & Dagger . Another horror regular Brad Dourif and that voice, he makes Chucky a doll version of Samuel L. Jackson's, Jules, from Pulp Fiction. Most notably his response to being thrown in the fire. Dourif along with the Fx team helped create one of the best doll horror movies. Other good one's that come to mind are the Zuni fetish doll from Trilogy of Terror and Stuart Gordon's Dolls . The original dvd: Originally Child's Play contained a non widescreen edition. As for special features it contained a collectible behind the scenes booklet that wasn't very collectible. If you'd like a real write up on Child's Play check out the somewhat new magazine HorrorHound. In issue #10 they do a in depth retrospective on the Child's Play series. I highly recommend this magazine as well, unlike Fangoria it does more articles on horror over the years instead of just new stuff. The 20th Anniversary Edition: Special Features - Commentary track with creator/writer Don Mancini and producer David Kirschner. - A second track with FX guru Kevin Yagher, Catherine Hicks (Kevin's wife; they met on the film), and now-grown-up Alex Vincent. - A third track with Mancini and Chucky (Brad Dourif voicing in character). - The film itself is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen. - Making-of documentary blending archival footage with new, on-camera interviews with Mancini, Kirschner, Yagher, Hicks, Vincent, Chris Sarandon, John Lafia and Brad Dourif. All this commentary should blow away the 1 page "collectible" piece of paper with the original dvd release. I'd also recommend to those who like the series, which I do, (there a fun time) to pick up Chucky - The Killer DVD Collection , for those into cover art there is a doll of Chucky coming out of the cover with various weapons he can choose from on the side. Hope this helps.

AMAZING EDITION!!!
First of all, a great horror movie. But the extras....OMG! The bonus features alone would be worth the price. There is footage of building Chucky, rehearsal footage, even what the actors look like today! It is so cool to see people operating the Chucky controls and seeing all the robotics that went into making the various Chuckies. There is nothing like footage from the 1980's, lol. There are some scenes with Chucky commentary, there is even a full commentary track by Andy and the woman who played his mother! Unfortunately, they did their commentaries separately so you don't really get to hear them interact with each other. We even see Chucky-concept drawings and the different dolls that were needed for different actions. They even have film of the 2007 reunion and some of the cast answering questions. Another neat bonus feature is about the making of this movie, back from the 1980's. And wow, is Don Mancini cute in the current bonus features! Even though this is a horror movie, there was a romance that blossomed on set. This DVD is an amazing tribute to a still scary movie.
