Turkey - Culture Smart!: The Essential Guide to Customs & Culture

I bought this book for a 25-year old who was visiting Turkey for a week with his sister because members of his family had come from there.Their customs and culture vary quite a bit from the States so this book was informative -- I recommend it as a deep look into the Turkish people -- not just a touristy look.

This guide will be perfect for my Turkey trip next spring. It is concise and gives an excellent overview to multiple aspects of the country to include geography, history, customs, etc. An index, suggestions for further reading and various apps. A big plus is the packable 4”x6” size.

This book is a bit heavy on history, but it does match my experiences in Turkey.

It was very informative in ways that other guide books are not. It captures the feel of the culture, and politically, socially and religiously. Very comprehensive.

It's a very nice little book, totally geared towards folks travelling there for the first time like myself, and I can't take my Turkey-frustrations out on the writer, but...absolutely no info regarding LGBT life? Yeah, I get it; Turkey isn't exactly Fire Island, but she coulda worked in at least a paragraph or 2. Or maybe the author has Stockholm Syndrome lol...

A book of genuine value and, in my opinion, indispensable for foreign visitors to Turkey. The country has a long and rich cultural history and, as a result, the people have their own set of values and way of doing things. Being their guest, it's not only good manners to brush up on local etiquette, it's the smart thing to do; you'll understand why people do what they do and, importantly, know how to respond.I highly recommend this guide for those who want to know more about the country, understand its people, and most importantly, get along with them.
