Not really a DS story, but good art for Art Book type Collector.
I bought these as a gift for my buddy who is a Dark Souls aficionado. He concurs with many that the story is weak and the characters not true to the DS world, but he loved the art work and felt that overall as a cheap art book for the game, this was great. He has even considered cutting the book apart to create a DS art collage poster.

Better than the first, though not a strict Dark Souls story
The first story was okay. This one was better with more entertaining dialogue and scenes. The art is phenomenal. Although there are elements that connect to the Dark Souls games (the undead, dungeons, a monstrous treasure chest, etc.), it's not really connected to the game. I googled the name of one of the locations because I was unfamiliar with it in DS... it ended up being the name of a location from World of Warcraft. Whoops. The story could stand alone in its own universe as a short story. If you're not looking for a strict DS story, this is worth reading.

Avoid
Poorly written story, passable art, and zero connection to the Dark Souls universe. No redeeming qualities. Not sure why it exists.

Worth a Read - For Fans of Comics, Dark Souls or Otherwise
I purchased this as a gift for my boyfriend who, admittedly, is not an avid comic reader (but is a fan of Dark Souls). Overall, he enjoyed reading this series. Unlike the Dark Souls Design Works books, I would say that this is not requisite for your collection, but you may find enjoyment otherwise. Nicely printed, with a glossy cover.

Wonderful read. Some guy here complained about the story not being connected to the dark souls universe. He doesn't understand dark souls apparently. These books aren't stories of the MAIN characters from Dark Souls but new stories from other places in the world and other times as time is convoluted. NEW content basically. These stories expand on what is already there and do it well. The art is really cool and a worthy tribute to the dark universe the game brought us in to.
