each square is (roughly) 1 foot cubed (12" tall x 12" wide x 12" deep). So a 3x3 square organizer is 3'x3'x1'. the 2x3 square organizer is 2'x3'x1'. However, the inside of each cube space is more like 11.5"x11.5"x12" (or a little more if you set it away from the wall. for clearance, I'd say that any basket or canvas tote that measures 11"x11"x11" will work fine. Again, I used the standard canvas totes that they sell at walmart and it looks pretty sharp. hope that helps! (also, sorry it took me a while to reply over the holidays!)

Hi, I was about to order a couple of these and the price went up about $15.00 in one day. Will the price go down again?

I just went to Target's website. The same item is priced at $69.99. The item # you quoted wasn't the same shelving unit.

You have to assemble yourself, however it's easier than any other furniture I have had to put together and definitely worth it !

I want to buy it to hold my folded pants, books, and other knick knacks..would it be recommended?

Yes, absolutely. These are great because they're so versatile. The cubes would hold your pants or shirts in a neat pile that's not going to fall over. It's also great for books, knick knacks, folders, paper, notebooks, binders, small stuffed animals, etc. I love mine!
