Unexpectedly enjoyable
Greg Pak's reboot of Turok is fascinating: a Catholic England invades North America with dinosaurs... It's just insane enough to work. Pak's work here reminds of his run with the Eternal Warrior for the new Valiant line. One misses these Gold Key characters being part of that tightly knit universe, but this run breathes life into them and gives the arcs a lot more freedom than they would have had in such a tightly knit and coherent comic universe.

The graphic novel is pretty decently thick
The book is awesome it's pretty decently thick I would thought it would be just you know standard fitness for a graphic novel but anyways I'm in love with it I love the comic book I love the hero all around it's just a badass comic book

Classic!
Well written & wonderful art! Dinosaurs and great action. What more do you want? A deeply personal story of an outcast that is only wanted when there is trouble.

Indians and dinosaurs...yes, that is right...dinosaurs
This graphic novel collects issues 1-4 of the comic book. It has good art work, moves along swiftly and has a cool plot which has 13th century crusaders invading the new world looking for gold. Predictably, they are brutal and treat the natives horribly in an attempt to force them to reveal their gold. What is not expected, is they do this by unleashing dinosaurs (yes, dinosaurs) on them. Turok, the title character, has a lot of repressed anger stored up (dead parents and etc) and he uses it to fight off the crusaders and the dinosaurs. I wanted to like this book more than I did because I like dinosaurs (I mean, who doesn't?) and I like indians. So why am I on the fence and not sure if I will read further volumes? It is because, whereas the overall plot is good, the actual writing is stilted and seems too modern; plus the plot points are very often too predictable. The only unexpected plot point was when the crusaders unleashed dinosaurs. Now, I knew the book had dinosaurs (it is in the title after all) but I didn't expect them to be somewhat trained and used as weapons. So, kudos to the writer for that. Overall, I liked the book; just not sure I will keep reading the series.I primarily review graphic novels and my rating system is simple. 5 stars for books that I couldn't put down and read from start to finish in one sitting. 4 stars for excellent books that I highly recommend and will continue reading myself. 3 stars for books I liked and may recommend. 2 stars and below for books I would not recommend.I hope this review helped. Turok makes the 5 yo inside me smile
I grew up in Bismarck ND. My first memory of comics was getting a 3 pack of Gold Key comics from Ben Franklin dime store. It had An anthology comic with stories that I could only read during the day. It had Magnus which was my first exposure to martial arts and it had Turok. Native Americans were the heroes and they were fighting dinosaurs. I was hooked. This book brings back fond memories.

Volumes 1-3 review Lots of action not much sense
Basically this is a lot of action- not much context (ie why are dinosaurs being brought over by knights) and not very good character development in Turok who is the key character here. Lots of dinos crunching people but I didn't get a larger sense of what was going on or why Turok seemed to change a lot from volume to volume. I have read Turok since I was a kid and have enjoyed a lot of the various incarnations but this one is a disappointment

Turok vs Crusaders...yeah, you read that right!
Just what I wrote above...it's an easy to read and not much to think about kind of Story. Artwork looks good and it includes some "making of" at the end of the Comic. As a Fan of Videogame-Turok I had to try it and I wasn't dissapointed. Give it a try!

Another Turok Story
It turns out that there are various versions of the Turok story. This is not the original story and seems a little silly to me and not very long. It is a beautifully colorful comic book though with plenty of dinosaur action for those that like that.
