4G for older Jaguar Land Rover Infotainment
If you own a Jaguar or Land Rover of about 5 years old you will know that the traffic (and other) data of the navigation system is driven from the 3g mobile phone signal. This 3G signal is not only 'patchy' but will be switched off in 2023 (according to O2 and EE). This will make the traffic data unobtainable from the switch off date. We bought this dongle to provide a mobile Wi-FI signal in the car which is driven from the 4G LTE mobile phone signal. We now have, in effect a 4G traffic system which also provides browsing and other data services as found in the infotainment system. So far results have been very good and traffic coverage is faultless using a EE SIM. You should download the software provided to set up the dongle and spend some time configuring the device. You will also need to 'teach' your car the dongle's settings so that he can connect to it. We situate our dongle permanently in the USB port of RRS glove box and use the two little antennae. (I'm not sure if they do much). The dongle switches on when the Infotainment systems activates and after a few minutes everything connects to the mobile internet and the data flows. It is well worth spending on this device rather than a less expensive device (which we have also tried but with disappointing results).

Easy installation, strong signal and great customer service.
There is a lot of choice of similar items with varying reviews (mostly not very good). This was a slightly higher price than some but you get additional antenna which help boost the signal. Not being a tech geek I was a bit concerned about the installation but this was an absolute breeze. I inserted a data micro SIM, made a note of the network WLAN id and password and plugged it into the 12v power outlet in the boot of my car. I switched on the ignition and waited for a solid blue light on the dongle which appeared in seconds. I picked up the WLAN from the cars Menu, entered the password and got instant connection to the internet. I haven't yet had time to test it on my laptop but not too concerned as it will be primarily left in the car and used for Traffic Info on the sat nav. Overall very pleased and impressed with my purchase and service from the company.

Poor
The unit was very easy to setup but didn't perform as advertised. Prior to making the purchase I had confirmed with my service provider that we had the correct net coverage in our area. Unfortunately the unit would only work with the aerials and even then the connection was very intermittent and poor steength; near impossible to use it with the laptop or other such devices. I am now using, with great success and any issues, the same sim in an old android mobile phone to provide WiFi for my devices.

Usefull but could be better.
The device works OK but the signal it obtains and transmits is average at best. Compared to using a phone with a hotspot enabled, this device cannot outperform the mobile phone. My maximum download speed was 10Mbps and my maximum upload speed was 2Mbps. I was using an iPhone 6S to compare, and it was NOT able to outperform the phone both in download and upload speeds. The iPhone provided around 40Mbps download and 20Mbps upload during the same time of day and placed at the same location next to a window where the signal strength was highest. Ping was OK though, same as the phone. On the other hand, the browser-based user interface is brilliant and worlks very well! It is incredibly easy to configure so if you are new to these types of devices, all you need to do is insert a SIM card and plug it into a USB port or a standard wall adapter with a USB connector.

Supports more 4g bands than the cheaper versions which youll need in a car
worked out of the box. Have been able to convert my cars head unit from its inbuilt 3g only connection to 4g now. I did try a cheaper item first, but it didnt support enough 4g bands, so teh cars connection was sporadic as driving around. this modem supports a few more bands so connectivity is much more stable. Doesnt get hot and gives a good speed connection when on the go.

Brilliant little router
Got this to supply wifi in our boat and get rid of a bigger more power hungry 4g router ,hasn't dropped connection all night testing it on Netflix at work in a poor signal area getting 16 mbps and 7 upstream had mid 30's down stream at home ,it's not blistering fast like 5g but it will supply a stable connection in the boat to the camera and navigation equipment ,very impressed functionality for a very small price ,picked up its own apn settings worked out the box on voxi/vodafone ,powerbank hasn't even dropped a bar of power in 9 hours constant streaming

Cheap, simple, slow
I’m getting ~30 MB/s max download speed with excellent reception where my phone easily gets 150+. It doesn’t come with these small external antennas as on the photo. I’ve also tried connecting a good external directional MIMO antenna - it makes no difference at all.

4G Internet connection - in a USB dongle
Purchased this as a backup to my home wifi network and any broadband issues. This has worked perfectly with my TP Link Archer Vr2100 router. I setup the SIM Only connection first on my laptop, then plugged this inot the USB port on my router, turned on teh 3G/4G backup connection, works fine sharing the Dongle internet connection via the home wifi network. The device has a portal to login to via a web browser page, this can tell you how many connections you have to the wifi (from the dongle) and what the SIM connection is being used for internet. This also allows access to any SMS to this SIM mobile phone number too. All in all a great piece of kit - without locked to a single network provider - this will be really useful on holiday in the UK or abroad along with a home wifi back-up
