Good advice - and fun to read at that
A book whose thesis is "Do it now, life is short", written by a guy who is a school teacher, minister, motivational speaker, wedding DJ and published author of half a dozen books plus a victim of PTSD. It might be preachy, or full of vague advice, and probably boring. Wrong on all counts. Dicks is a Patriots fan with season tickets, fond of keggers and tailgate parties. He does all these things by squeezing them into the 10 minutes here, 10 minutes there. Time the rest of us waste. He's not a productivity freak. But he gets results as if he is. He has a lot of interesting stories, but the book is more than stories. It's a challenge to you to try what works so well for him.

Make it happen (whatever IT might be)!
This book is so entertaining and actionable! It provides a power punch of inspiration to make it happen (whatever IT might be), and extremely do-able steps and techniques to get there. It’s a perfect combination of Atomic Habits (action) and The War of Art (inspiration to create), and it’s got a cool subversive edge. The author’s approach to productivity and creativity is different! He is militant in his belief that time is precious and shouldn’t be wasted. He finds extra minutes throughout his day (he’ll type a few sentences of his new novel while his son looks for his shoes, for example), he divides the work, he seizes every moment (he keeps a list of valuable things he can do in ten minutes, which I’m now also doing!), he minimizes time spent dressing (he argues no one really cares how you look, LOVE!), he weighs the cost of taking time to drive for cheaper gas vs. the value of what he can do during that time (LOVE!). He also talks about concepts like the eagle and the mouse—the eagle sees the big picture, the mouse gets stuck in the weeds. He argues we can let a lot of little stuff go if it doesn’t serve the big picture (LOVE!), and he provides guidance on determining what deserves your time and what doesn’t (YES, please!). He also advocates starting before you’re ready, making lots of terrible things, and keeping an enemies list. He hates five-year plans. He gives examples on how to think like a criminal and break the rules to allow creativity to flourish. He detests performative productivity and creative preciousness (ha, YES!). In short, the author turns a lot of ideas you may have heard about making it happen upside-down! And the author is relatable and funny too. This book is exactly the kick in the pants I needed and actually provides The Tools.

Unique tips that are not found in any other self-help book. Frustrating in the best possible way.
Matt highlights all the ways that we can harness time during our everyday. It's frustrating because you realise how much time you are wasting, and inspiring because it shows you exactly how to stop wasting it.I devoured this book twice - once on kindle, once in hard copy with sticky notes and a highlighter. It's a mess, there are so many sticky notes because there is so much gold to be found in this book.Unique tips that are not found in any other self-help book.
