desertcart.com: Mystery In Rocky Mountain National Park (National Park Mystery Series): 9780989711654: Johnson, Aaron, Johnson, Aaron: Books Review: Buy The Book - This book is really well written. I bought the set for my grandson after he read the first two books on loan from the school library. He couldn't stop talking about how much he liked the books and I read the first book myself. The characters are relatable to any kid and the story is interesting, weaving in fact with fiction, friendship and family relationships plus a mystery. Just a great book and series. If you don't have kids in your own family, buy the set for your public library and share these books with many people. Lots of outdoor activities woven into the story too. Perfect book for young readers but I enjoyed it too. Chapters are not too long and story moves quickly. Good move from graphic novels to next level of reading that will hold a kids interest. Illustrations add to the story and give visual aids. I highly recommend both this book and the series. Review: Worth the money and the read - get it and read to your kids! - A well written children’s book. Read this to my kids this week while we explored the Shenandoah national park because I wanted a good camping book and loved the idea of mystery, national park themed, and clean. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that the book was also detailed and well written with fun facts along the way. My kids loved it and literally yelled “no! Just ONE more chapter!” And the end of EVERY chapter, and my 8 year old has already demanded that I buy the next one when we finished the first. I really appreciate that there’s: 1. No Romance of any sort so far, 2. No foul language or sketchiness 3. Nothing too terribly dark or occult, etc. I also appreciate that the writing is thorough and descriptive, that there is legitimate dialogue between the characters, that there are multiple layers of story intertwining throughout, and that even though the kids hiking alone etc. is somewhat risky behavior, there is also clear parental awareness and permission, good upright morals, and an emphasis on doing the right thing. I hope this review encourages you as you write the next few books. We are looking forward to reading them all.

Should be an interesting read for 9 to 13 year olds, I'm 61 and stayed interested in it.
I purchased this book recently to see if it would be appropriate to send as a gift to a friend's kids. I couldn't find anything that our friend would find objectionable as far as content goes, so no worries there. Though it's a little below my reading level, I still found it an enjoyable read and wanted to know how the mystery turns out. I easily finished it in a day. I may order the rest of the series too just to escape for a day or two and not have to think too much about the story line and characters. One criticism however, the morse code message on page 59 does not spell out what the boys translate it as a few pages later, there is no M in the dots and dashes, nor is there a double O. Also, there is very little separation between the dots and dashes, making it even harder to decipher. Dot dash dot could mean E and N or possibly A and E or all three could mean R, depending on where the dots and dashes are separated. I know most people wouldn't catch that, but even when I was a kid, I would have, but then, my dad was a ham radio operator and I was interested in it too.

Absolutely amazing story, writing and experience!
I was looking for a way to get my 7 year old hooked on books & nurture a love for reading. Oh boy did these books deliver! We are both hooked and can't wait our time to read together. I can't recommend this series enough!

Awesome books! Ages 8-12+
Great book series for ages 8-12 and beyond! My son started reading these and couldn't put them down. He's now got the rest of the family reading them. Such fun writing! Definitely need to read them in order (and if you buy from the author's website instead, you'll get a few freebies as well. We learned this the hard way after buying from here). Highly recommend.

A Grand Adventure Through Time and the Canyon!
I really liked this book! As someone who already has a soft spot for national parks, this story hit all the right notes. It’s a perfect mix of mystery, history, and adventure, and it kept both me and my little audience engaged from start to finish. What I loved: - Travel through space and time: The story seamlessly bops between real-time and the 1880s, adding layers of intrigue and making the Grand Canyon feel even more magical. - Excitement on every page: The plot moves quickly, and there’s always something new happening, keeping it exciting without overwhelming younger readers. - Short chapters = bedtime win: As someone who reads aloud at night, I really appreciate the short chapters. They make it easy to wrap up a section without feeling like you’re reading a novel marathon. Perfect for winding down but still delivering a good dose of adventure. - Relatable characters: The characters are fun, likable, and—thankfully—not obnoxious (looking at you, other kids’ series). They feel real and make it easy to root for them throughout the story.

Looking for a great series for both boys and girls... especially the ones who aren't into fantasy? This is a great start to an ongoing mystery series with fantastic history and exploration of the US's National Parks. Family, friends, mysteries, team work, history, camping, wilderness... it's all there. Highly recommend for reluctant readers.

My 11 year old is an avid reader. We picked this up for him. He read it in a day. Said he loved it, "especially the 1880s parts." Then he said that the author was tricky because he makes it so that you "have" to buy the next book. I asked why. He said it's because each subsequent book has clues to solving the mystery. Long story short, he then asked if we could buy the next book!
