Fret Puller

Works well
These work great. After heating up the fret wires to release any glue under them, these grabbed and removed the wires with ease.

adequate, of inconsistent workmanship
I don't know why it's so hard finding these things. Really it seems like there are only a couple options out there, these and the ones that StewMac sells for way too much money. Basically these are "end cutting pliers/nippers" with only a single edge bevel. Most nippers have a double edge bevel, making two opposing V's that pinch into each other; these only have the bevel on the inside, making the outside surface completely flat when they are closed. This is so you can get them flat against the fretboard and work the bevel underneath the fret. The ordinary type won't do.These are only of so-so craftsmanship. Yes, they're cheap. Yes, you get what you pay for. Mine arrived and they weren't completely straight across the front, the two cutting edges don't meet each other in a flush manner. It looks like one of the halves was just not machined as well. The 'spring' in the grip was a joke, it doesn't perform its function at all, the pliers just stick together when they're pinched together and don't pop back apart. However, they work well enough for pulling frets, and it's labeled a fret puller, so I can't debate this too much.I think in terms of price, this is perfectly adequate if you're already ordering from AmplifiedParts and have made peace with their 5.95 flat shipping fee. For people like me who, knock on wood, don't actually plan on making a habit of pulling frets, I think this will be sufficient. If you ARE going to be pulling a lot of frets, I think that spending the extra dough on the StewMac branded ones would be a worthy investment. When buying from them, you can always pass the cost along to your customers since frets themselves don't cost THAT much. :)

dosn't silde under the fret easily
This is a great tool for the money. The jaws are a little thick to work their way under a fret to start lifting it. Once you get the fret end up, easy, steady back and fourth pressure lifts the fret from the slot.

Works great
Works great. Pulls out frets like butter. It came with grease smeared on it and looks kind of cheap, but it works just fine. If you're just using this for a 1 or 2 time defret, it's worth it. If it's something you are going to use on the regular, go with the StewMac stuff.

Great for the price.
Worked perfectly once. I plan on using them one more time. If I was using them regularly I would spend the extra money for a sturdier tool but for an occasional project they're fine.

Works as intended.
Seems durable and works. They are not intended to get under the fret edges but to grab the sides of the old frets. Old frets are a wear item, so do not worry about marring the sides of the old frets. I first scored the old frets with an Exacto knife. I then used water on both sides of the old frets and a soldering iron to heat them. This broke the old polyurethane adhesion so I could pull the old frets out slowly starting from one side and working my way across the finger board.

Fret puller
For the price it pulled all the frets on my classical acoustic guitar. The jaw edge did chip slightly. I would look around for other options if you are more than a hobbyist or professional.I hope this helps you all.Thank You, Jeff

Not even good for nail clippers
Came out of the box with a crooked beveled angle , I used the little bit of good side I could to pull three frets such was a fight and they were already showing damage, chipped and dented. Weak metal I guess. The angle was so bad and noticeable it’s frustrating whoever sent me these plyer wasted my time. Since it would only to take a second to look and see they are unacceptable. But still it’s just weak metal. My frets weren’t even stainless. Last time I will be cheap budget tools in hopes I’m saving money and or getting a deal. It’s just not worth it. Not to mention what producing useless cheap throw away tools like this is doing for the planet. I’m thinking the business model might be they make this stuff for so cheap they only have to sell one to so many people and they don’t care if they work or break. Or have returning customers. I’m not sure. I thought for 30 there was a chance they were decent.
