I just got it and the problem is when I connect it, the audio doesn't work. What can I do to keep the audio from the original source?

I had the same problem. HDMI carries audio, so it automatically tries to get sound from the computer, which shuts off the headphone jack. Press the Windows key and hit Settings. In Settings search for Sound (or Audio) settings. Change the audio source from your monitor to the computer's speakers. I restarted, and it worked again. The company that makes this should include instructions with it.
