Mastering Comics: Drawing Words & Writing Pictures Continued
K**K
Start mastering your basic understanding of comic production right here.
Mastering Comics is an instructional tome that picks up seamlessly from where Drawing Words & Writing Pictures left off. Both books are actually textbooks for a comic art course at thh School of Visual Arts, but are also great as reference for independent study. The way art and comics are approached in these books is much different from other instructional books on creating comics. The absence of spandex clad vigilantes battling ridiculously themed villains doesn't indicate a lack of quality in the instruction. The only drawback is much of the book is focused on computer based applications. This addresses the creator who wants to maximize their property for web presentation. Most of the lessons ring true regardless of whether your input is digital or analog.

Good source of Information
This book actually has more information in it than I thought. Major advantage! Well worth the investment... if you are a reader. This is not a picture book to be flipped through FYI.

essential text for comic creators!
wasn't sure what to make of this book at first, with so many books coming out about how to do comics, its hard to tell which one to get! get this one! it covers everything! inking, perspective, dialogue, points of view, you name it! never boring or overly academic, it makes want to start doing your own comic book right away! so worth every penny!

No.
My son hated this. Goes from one step to finished drawing. Had to return.

Fantastic
A fantastic book with loads of help and guidelines. I love the idea of the homework type ending in each chapter.

Excellent reference for comics
In complement with Scott Mc Could's, I think it is a must have.Everything is in there, from the fear of lack of inspiration to the concrete process of a complete story, not to forget of course drawing exercises.Nothing to complain about at all, quite the contrary.

Companion sequel
I bought this book along with it's companion "Drawing Words & Writing Pictures" and I haven't gotten to this one yet. The first book is really great and this one is a continuation of that first book. It just continues where the other one left off. It's lay out is the same way and it looks like it will be a helpful as the first one ( I am assuming ). I gave the first one 4 stars and even though I haven't fully used this one yet I will still give this 4 as well just because it's part 2 to an already excellent book.
