Giving them a choice to live with an added soul and powers in exchange for helping protect others from evil. I like that this book did not have to delve into that as much and went straight to the good stuff. Jackson is an alpha male, blended with an ancient alpha male. Somehow I don't think it would have gone as smoothly as written, but it is a story, one that I enjoyed, so I will concede that point. I liked Jackson and the way he is around his friends and of course with Marissa. She is strong and intelligent so she took a bit of time to come to terms with her new reality. That life on earth is not all she thought, nor is her place in it. Marissa and Jackson's romance was built smoothly to the simmering point while enemy chaos surrounded them. Her reluctance to blend with Hatshepsut was understandable regardless of her feelings for Jackson. It may sound confusing but was actually easy to follow and just flow with it. I would recommend reading book 1 first however. I truly enjoyed this story. Not only the battle of good vs. evil, but the inner struggle of the Bodywalkers as well. The romance was very satisfying and I can't wait for book 3 to see what happens next. *Review copy provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. https://www.facebook.com/ReadingInPajamas http://readinginpajamas.wordpress.com http://www.goodreads.com/readinginpajamas Review: Forever, A Review for the Blog Tea and Book - Jacquelyn Frank has returned to the world of the Nightwalkers. Forever is book two of her Bodywalkers leg of the Nightwalkers. I am beginning to believe that she will be telling the story of each Nightwalker Species then gradually tie them all together. This is beginning to get really interesting as we have heard from the Demons, the Shifters, the Vamps, the Shadowdwellers and now are getting some inside peaks into the lives of the Bodydwellers that leaves seven species unaccounted for... hmmmm. Jackson Waverly is a cop.. it's who he is, what he does. He has spent years as a canine cop and after the death of his first dog he went into serious depression. It didn't help that about that time his sister went missing and was presumed dead. When she came back to life sharing her body with another soul, let's just say he wasn't thrilled. But when he was close to death and the same option was offered to him, Jackson accepted the soul of Menes, the leader of the Bodywalkers. Now all he has to do is learn to merge their souls, figure out how to leave his job and oh yeah.. convince the sexy psychiatrist that she too wants to become a bodywalker. Dr. Marissa Anderson has spent as much time peaking out her window watching the ever smexy officer Waverly train his new police dog as she has spent treating her patients. While she is attracted to him she is determined to keep him at arms length, professional behavior and all that. Only her hormones seem to have something entirely different in store for her. When Jackson is forced to fight off an evil gargoyle in front of Marissa she is abruptly brought into the Bodywalker world. One of them escaped and is aware that she means more to him than just another human being. Now they must leave the world both are familiar with and begin a new life in the Desert of the southwest. A place where bodywalkers feel most comfortable. Menes, wants to convince Marissa to allow a melding with the great love of his life immediately but Jackson is still in protection mode and wants only for Marissa to be safe. Talk about an internal battle.. This was just a good book!! Dealing with the names involved in this series was like taking a step back into ancient Egyptian culture and Ms Frank does an excellent job of keeping their personalities.. and yet explaining that with each soul merge they have had over the centuries, they have changed and grown. Excellent concept if a bit odd.. but she also deals with the differences between a symbiotic relationship and one where the original owners of the body are more or less subjugated and destroyed. On top of their eternal battle between the Politics (the good bodywalkers) and the Templars (the evil bodywalkers) a new evil is brought into play and the need to find the rest of the Nightwalkers is becoming dire. Yeah a really good book.. You can read this book without reading the other Nightwalker Series but you are gonna want to read them all eventually.. Jackson's Story
This was a much anticipated book for me. I was hoping that the big brother would get his own love of his life. I did think that Menes was a bit overbearning, but then he was a King of Egypt & ruler of the Nightwalkers. I was expecting a harder transition than his sister Docia had in Forbidden, being a guy, Jackson didn't disappoint. I was so glad that he kept his connection with Sarge, his K9 police partner. I can see where he could have additional participation in future books, after all we have the gargoyles :-) This is a really great series & I hope Jacquelyn continues to write fantastic books in this world. I do hope at some point she might combine with her other Nightwalker series. It sounds like they are all connected somehow & would love to see how that plays out. Thanks for the great reads Jacquelyn!!

Hard not too rate high but warning I am biased!
I just enjoy this author and in this series I can't help being drawn in by the whole idea of the dual souls and bodies. I loved Docia and Ram introduced in the book before this and now Marissa and Jackson have my total attention. One is hard to resist is that we are introduced to the characters early in the series and there is a gradual build up to prepare us whilst the focus is on the main characters of that book. It simulates reality so distraction is avoided. This series is about love despite the odds and the inherent evil that surrounds us so it is easy to like. The love between Jackson and Marissa veers on distortion but is saved by the power of the characters and what is uppermost in their hearts, a love that last through lifetimes and this is a chilling and compelling thought to some who can't even find it in one lifetime. Captivating!

I read the first book and it was very good and interesting story to read. So I immediately bought this second book.I can't wait for the next book.

Forbidden, forever, Forsaken, forged...
