I love English Paper Piecing and my husband is very generous ...
I love English Paper Piecing and my husband is very generous in letting me order most every book on the subject, on his Prime Account. I enjoy each one but this book is exceptionally brilliant! It is of top quality as far as the way it is laid out. It is user friendly for a beginner but has so much more. The patterns are creative and invites new ways of looking at EPPing, for all skill levels. The instructions and pictures are beautiful and inspire me to try every single project. This book is a treasure and well worth the purchase price.

Nice pictures
Love the information and photos shared. The book gives a lot of ideas on how to place fabric to make some really pretty paper pieces. Will be taking the book and my stash of bits and pieces on holiday.

You can choose to go simple or be challenged
This is a nice English Paper Piecing (EPP) book of 128 pages. There are a couple of designs that I find interesting enough to make. The front cover quilt (Celestial Stars 59.25" square), for example, requires eight different EPP shapes but is gorgeous and all of the shapes are in the back of the book if you want to make templates rather than buying precut papers/shapes. Sharon fussy cuts many of her fabrics for extra WOW power. There are 16 projects that range from very simple to very complex and include a clam shell "dilly" bag (shown on the back cover). (I think that may be the equivalent of a small duffle bag that is gathered at the top.) Quilts include a 53.25" square , a couple mini quilts (hexagon 21.5" x 23.5"; one is 14.25"), a star table runner (12.25" x 31.5"), a baby quilt (39.5"), a star cushion (19.75"), a bunting (length is 85.75"). ( ... what the heck is a bunting anyway?) There is also a patchwork block cover (13.75") which is a book cover, a zippered pouch (10.25" x 6.25"), three pin cushions and needle keeper, journal cover made with hexagons, place mats, and a hexagon clock. Yes, a clock ... that's not a type-o.The book does a good job of covering basic EPP techniques and about fussy cutting fabric. I used to thread baste my fabrics to paper shapes but switched to gluing them because it is so much faster and the result is tighter fitting fabric. (No more shapes that have the baggies.) One thing I gleaned from this book is putting my glue pen/stick in the fridge or freezer for a little while before using it. Since I live in Florida and the AC is typically set at 78 degrees, the glue is sometimes very soft from the heat and too much comes off onto the paper. When that happens you go through way too many glue pens too fast. I tried Sharon's suggestion and it works well. The issue I have with this book is probably just my issue but I have trouble dealing with some international products because it takes me out of my comfort zone and makes me think too hard. The author is from Australia (cool) but I get a bit confused by the different names of things like a "dilly" bag, the bunting project, and parlan? ... I guess that is a type of batting or as some countries call wadding. The book is published in Turkey (you don't see that very often). They used a nice weight paper and included a fold-over edge on the front and back cover that helps you to keep your place in the book. The font is also clear and a good size. (C&T Publishing has a tendency to use a too small font that is hard to read.)When reading through the patterns I saw an error in the Radiant Quilt fabric requirements that stated '1 1/4" yard small red floral'. I know that they really meant 1 1/4 yards of red fabric ... not 1 1/4 inches of red fabric. That same pattern didn't identify what was needed for backing fabric..not a big deal but it makes me question what other errors might have gotten past the editors.Overall, I'm satisfied with the book.

Beautiful Projects But Short on Instruction
I purchased this book based on glowing recommendations from several bloggers. The projects, fabrics and photography in this book are absolutely stunning and there is a nice list of favorite tools. However, there is very little instruction on English Paper Piecing. The only shapes covered in the book are the hexagon, six pointed star and clam shell. Instruction is provided on how to sew two hexagons together but beyond that the reader is on their own to figure out how to join the remainder of hexagons together. There is also very little instruction given for the six pointed star. There is a beautiful project called Radiant Quilt which has unique 4 point star block in the middle of another block. I would love to make this quilt, however there is no instruction as to how to piece this block together. I guess I will have to learn how to English Paper Piece from YouTube videos or a book from the library. Kinda disappointing after one has just purchased a book on the subject. If you are experienced with EPP, then there are some nice projects to complete. However if you are a newbie like me then you might want to look elsewhere for a book that provides more detailed instruction on EPP.
