Good one time read
There are a lot of negatives reviews about this novel. Most of them may be because the novel takes a lot of time to get into actual plot. A different premise set within a plane , a hijack attack , the author has tried to keep it interesting. There are few engaging twists but the climax twist is absolutely fantastic. With the climate activists protests going on throughout the world it wouldn't be a surprise if something like this happens in real life ( hopefully no).

By far the most intriguing suspense thriller I've read in a long time.
It's the first non-stop flight from London to Sydney and the world is watching this landmark journey. But soon after the plane takes off, Flight attendant Mina receives a chilling anonymous note. Someone wants to make sure the plane never reaches its destination. They're demanding her cooperation . . . and they know exactly how to get it.It's twenty hours to landing and a lot can happen in twenty hours . . .With every book, Clare Mackintosh brings something new to her narrative style. She refuses to hand over control of her story to the reader, keeping you guessing every step of the way. There are moments that make you gasp, shudder, pull the ground from beneath your feet, and yet you can't bring yourself to stop reading. You're completely hypnotised. You're always in for a surprise with this author. Just when you think the mystery is solved, she throws in one last piece of the puzzle and pushes you off a cliff. I've come to learn that in Clare Mackintosh's novels the game is over when her characters say so. Not a moment sooner.Mounting tension and high drama at thirty thousand feet, with nowhere to go other than fall out of the sky, Hostage is by far the most intriguing suspense thriller I've read in a long time. I doubt I'll find another one to match this anytime soon. This ARC courtesy of NetGalley and Little Brown Book Group, UK.For complete review, visit aquamarineflavours.wordpress.com.

Oh my lord, the tension in this novel made my heart pound!
Oh my lord, the tension in this novel made my heart pound!I knew very little about Hostage before diving in. I have read one other Clare Mackintosh novel, Let Me Lie, which I very much enjoyed. This was very different in terms of plot, but similar in structure. In both novels I loved the writing structure, how there are multiple POVs and how this helps to build tension. I also enjoy not knowing how all of characters/ POVs are connected, but trying to figure it out along the way.I do think what Clare Mackintosh does very well is create relatable, flawed, and vulnerable characters. Both Mina and Adam, in this novel are far from perfect, but I found I could relate to their issues and mistakes well. Some of the plot is far fetched, how much can possibly go wrong for one family in the space of a day? However, that did not detract from the story for me.Looking forward the reading more by this author soon!

3.5 stars rounded up.I thought it was appropriate to read about about a plane being taken hostage when there is absolutely no hope of getting on a plane anytime soon. Flight attendant Mina has problems. Her marriage is in trouble and her daughter has severe behavioral problems. When she gets on the first long haul flight from London to Sydney, she thinks she's taking a break from her life. Boy, was she wrong.I was expecting something like Turbulence meets Die Hard, a good old fashioned Christmas disaster story. Though I enjoyed this, it had a lot of slow parts and seemingly endless chapters from Mina's pathetic husband Adam and their domestic problems. Everything made sense later so I'm glad I pushed through. I also thought the passenger chapters were pointless padding but they too were tied in later. The last few chapters kicked into high gear and were very exciting. However, the last twist was bizarre and didn't fit with the story. It's also hard to believe Mina wouldn't face criminal charges. The writing was good and I'd definitely try more books by this author.

No clues just read it
I'd really like to tell you just how good this book is. How many twists you'll not be expecting and how so well written it is. How scary it can be if you think too deeply about what is happening. How distributing. I don't want to spoil the plot, so instead I'll just say.. 'Read It'.Because it is outstanding

WOW
This book is only the 2nd of Clare's books I have read but what a gripping read. Certainly kept me reading into the early hours. The plot covered so many issues, adoption, separation anxiety, gifted children, gambling, environmental issues and an amazing in flight drama. You just felt you were in the plane with it all.

Expected a great read
The story was ok, not thrilling and not worth the money. Don’t recommend this book was very disappointing. The ending was the best part.
