The quality is everything for a good set and it costs you !
The media could not be loaded. I finally found it after a lot of research and a few failures! I added some money to the budget and here is the new set on the table.Crestwood platinium is a very elegant collection, suitable for any season and a formal table. With a simple touch you discover the flawless finish! At the 50 pieces contained in the package you find that you have almost a complete service, starting from bread and butter plates to coffee cups. You can add pieces that you are missing and you can buy them separately whenever you want, pieces that are not absolutely necessary but elegantly complete a formal dinner. They are preferential! After several attempts to buy something cheap, beautiful and qualitative, I gave up. There is no such thing as cheap and good! I sent back a few sets because I wasn't satisfied with the quality. If you don't have a minimum budget of $300, forget about quality.Noritake is NORITAKE!!!

Arrived intact
I have not actually used this crockery set yet, but I must say that I was very impressed with the packaging. I do not live in America, so I ordered it delivered to my shippers, who then air-freighted it to me (I advised them that it was fragile). I unpacked the box to find every single piece in perfect condition. Not a flaw, not a chip or crack. Each item was individually wrapped in tissue paper, with corrugated cardboard dividers and double walls of corrugated cardboard around the outer sides of the packing box. Well done!I am thrilled with this set -- it is lovely and elegant in appearance. I never intend it for everyday use, so the non-microwaveability of the metallic pattern does not bother me one tiny bit.A paper sticker on each item says they are made in Sri Lanka, but as the quality is just as it should be, this does not bother me either. The stickers come off easily -- no soaking and rubbing required.*Update*We have used this lovely crockery on several occasions -- 'special' and 'why not?' -- and I can stand by my initial satisfaction.

Great value
We decided to get porcelain to replace our stoneware, which was showing its age (more than 25!). I wanted something that would look more formal but still go in the dishwasher. We looked at a lot of sets and read a lot of customer reviews. We are so happy we got these, even though we hadn't seen the set "in person".A number of reviewers mentioned problems with items being broken (mostly bowls) but we ordered two sets and all 100 items arrived in perfect condition. I was very pleased with the quality--color was even, glaze was smooth everywhere and there were no flaws that I could see.We love the pattern and I love the shapes of the bowls and cups. We considered some trendier styles, but decided these won't look dated even 25 years from now. We had our first dinner party with them and the table looked beautiful. We weren't brave enough to put them in our current dishwasher, since it lacks a china setting, but they washed up easily. I know it isn't fine bone china but we didn't pay fine bone china prices and we don't have to handle them with kid gloves, either. We are very satisfied with the value we got for our money.Update 2019: All these years later, set is still going strong. We had to replace our dishwasher in the intervening years. We now wash these in the machine on the china setting and have had no problems.

Excellent Buy
I bought this set eyes closed since it is Noritake; you cannot go wrong with this brand. I had my reserves about packing and shipping. Item arrived in time, I bought two sets and only got two broken soup bowls. I guess it cannot be avoided when shipping china. Packing was good enough, I have no complaints, I really feel the broken pieces were part of the risk, and I accepted the risk given the price. Even replacing these two soup bowls the deal is excellent. Now on the china, the dishes and pieces are perfectly finished, all white with no stains or irregularities, it does reflect a quality product, it feels and weights the way it is supposed to. The platinum border is very elegant and classy, not overdone. This is truly a very nice and distinguished set, buy eyes closed.UPDATE: April 10, 2012Almost two years down the road, the set looks as if it has not been used, granted, we do not use it on a daily basis, but have used it often, the enamel on the plates show no knife marks, the platinum designs remains in place, everything great so far and seems it will last many many more years....

Fantastic set.
So my wife wanted these on our wedding registry and I have to admit I was not into that idea. We have a small house and not a lot of space to store stuff like this, and really how often have you ever used fancy china, even if you did like it.Well, I really like this set, and so does she. It's very attractive and the metal edges are very classy. It is very quality made and we couldn't be happier with it.I really liked the note included by the mfgr stating that China is actually one of the strongest natural materials to make dinnerware out of and that you should actually "use it" instead of putting it in a cabinet and looking at it.Ladies, if you like this pattern and are looking for something a guy would like too, this is it...Also, it is packed really well, and since they give you a few extra pieces, I think the overall value is also excellent.
