J. Charles Holt was given his first ukulele by his wife while in Hawaii for their wedding. He has been playing ever since and was inspired to make this design. His interests range from ham radio and restoring vintage tube radios, to watercolor painting and collecting rare tiki mugs. It's a Waterman
The Headline says it all. Waterman ukes are ABS plastic and tend to have high action (strings are high above the fingerboard) so the strings have to be pressed a bit harder, making them a little harder to play (-1 star). It should not be anyone's first or only uke, but if you've got that covered and you like the design, then go for it!About the USA uke, specifically: The design is a little dirtier than it appears on my screen. It's based no a weather-worn design that one might see painted on a barn rather than a cloth flag.

Might be OK for newbie or child
Cute little uke. I just had a hard time playing it, after learning on a Concert and Tenor size. The strings are awful but even after changing them, the sound it produced just wasn't up to par. I would recommend this for a youth just starting out, especially because it's made of plastic and seems pretty durable - but still might break if dropped. I don't think this is for a serious or more advanced uke player - spend a few more dollars for a quality wood one like Kala.

I bought this for my 17 year old granddaughter for her birthday. She was so excited to get this ukulele, but as soon as she tried to tune it, the strings started breaking. Had to take it to a music store to have it restrung.

Love the design! If it had strap buttons and came with better strings It would be a 5 star purchase
