A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum Libretto (Applause Libretto Library)

I usually do not enjoy reading something that I've already seen in movie form because I already know the story, however I enjoyed reading the play version. As I read along my memory of the movie came back and I could watch the scenes in my head as I read and sang along. You can definitely see the influence of ancient Rome in this comedic contemporary play. Steven Sondheim also does amazing work with the songs once again.

We quickly received. The book was a complete copy of the play, plus lots of nice information and pictures of many prior productions.

Insights into the writing from one spent to literary prrvursors, Plautus. Lyrics - great for quotes. Light and easy read.

I've wanted this libretto for a long time. Saw the original musical back in the 60s and never laughed so hard in my life.

Its honestly very good, it's just missing all the female songs except That'll Show Him. The Lovely in this book is the reprise. Its great though, easy to read

My husband and I LOOOVE anything by Stephen Sondheim. We are slowly but steadily collecting all of his vocal scores, librettos, and of course sound tracks and DVD recordings of his works. We are happy to add "Forum" to the collection. Brilliant writing!

The play was full of annotation and many pages had lines crossed through all the text making it un readable. did not expect this from a 'used, good' condition book
