Mimesis: Night of the Living Dead [Blu-ray]

Decent, but barely any "re-watch" value
The movie has an original spin on the zombie genre, of which I am a huge fan of. It is a decent, but not great flick. Worth checking out if you are a Romero fan, for sure. You may figure out, or at least have suspicion of the twist long before it is revealed. Because of this monumental twist, which I enjoyed, I have no compelling reason to watch this again. I definitely wish I'd have just waited for it to be downloadable instead of buying the DVD ( there is no real benefit to buying this one in Blu Ray - no cinematography worthy of the format ), but the DVD was not expensive, so...Again, worth a look if you are into the horror genre. I doubt you'll hate it, but it will probably leave you feeling a bit disappointed.

Surprisingly good.
What begins as a horror convention after-party for a group of fans will quickly become a genuine flesh-and-blood nightmare: Trapped inside an isolated farmhouse, they are all in specific parts from the original Night of the Living Dead! They were knocked out and the next thing they are in a very familiar farmhouse and zombies are outside trying to get in. I have to admit that I was very pleasantly surprised. The performances were pretty good and then you have the suspense quotient on your mind too, is this a joke? a hoax? a game? Keep watching and you will find out. I do recommend this but am not sure that I could do it again because I have all the answers.

Gross film
Storyline twist from the original Night of the Living Dead (1968) film, but nothing more. Gross film.

Really Bad
This is NOT a zombie movie! It is a bunch of idiots pretending to be zombies.

Good concept
But the film on the whole isn’t very interesting. Mediocre to bad acting. Having Sid Haig in a couple scenes isn’t enough to make a film worth watching.

Cheesy but.......
So I bought this movie, I opened it and it just sat with my collection of Blu Rays. I've had it for about 2 1/2 weeks. I finally watched it, well, I'm currently watching it. WOW, what a horrible movie. SyFy Channel movies have about twenty-five times the budget, maybe even fifty times. This movie seems like it was scripted, directed, and acted by high school kids. I highly enjoy cheesy movies, I actually love them. But this is beyond terrible. The one good thing about this movie is that it pays homage to George Romero's Night Of The Living Dead. That movie is a classic, but this one, this one would only be a classic if the world were filled with blind and deaf people. I really wish I didn't have to pay $20, plus shipping for this. You can find movies like I Am Legend, Zombieland, 28 Day Later, and Dawn Of The Dead (Directors Cut) for no more than $10. I don't get it, quality movies cost much less than this turd fest. So now I'm stuck with this movie..... You know, I bet if one person buys this movie, they paid more than the entire budget of this movie.Buyer beware. Even if you enjoy cheesy B movies, be careful, you'll watch this once and never watch it again, so is spending $12.99 for a DVD, or $19.28 for Blu Ray really worth it, NOPE. Don't forget the shipping cost too.

Zombie Fans? Night of the Living Dead Fans? Watch this!
As a diehard Zombie fan that has (regrettably) watched every zombie movie I can possibly find, and then realized that I have invested countless hours on terrible movies just hoping for an entertaining or new take on the zombie flick, I have to say that this one did not disappoint me at all. Sure, it could have had better acting, but overall, the idea was perfect!

Ho hum
I thought the idea sounded good but I found the implementation to be ordinary. And once the big reveal (?!) came around the whole thing fell flat. It all just felt lazy and uninspired. Maybe big fans of the film that inspired it might be more pleased with the result.... The disk has a couple of soundtracks - the Dolby Digital 5.1 is certainly better than the stereo track but both had problems with the actors' voices being muffled some of the time.
