Defend the Dawn

Power packed with trust issues and slow burn romance (NO SPOILERS)
The second book picks up from the end of the first book. As the royals and rebels sir down for discussion, a sudden appearance of a person from the neighbouring kingdom, Ostriary sets the events of the book in place. He offers Moonflower in return for Kandalan steel. The rest of the book is about how the people respond to this proposal and the consequent actions. This book has more twists and turns compared to the previous one. As usual, Corrick's chapters are written very well and dwells deeper into his character. The POV of Harristan is a very good addition to the book as we get to know what happens in the kingdom while the rest of the people are away. Trust issues among the characters cause a lot of tensions in the book and keeps us hooked to it. The romance between our main characters is portrayed well. I wish Tessa's character had more depth but it's still the same and we have to adjust with that fact. Although the majority of the book takes place on a ship, there are no dull moments and this book will not disappoint you for sure!I hope the final book (which will be released next year) will be even more power packed and adventurous.

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING
Defend The Dawn By Brigid Kemmerer is the second outstanding book of the Defy The Night series. Omg !!!!!!! I could not wait for this book. Defy The Night was my favourite book of the year in 2021, I absolutely adored it. I had high hopes for Defend The Dawn and Brigid has done wonders yet again, such an epic adventure that I never wanted to end.I love Brigid’s books, her writing style is so easy flowing to read, and the speed of the plot and action is on point. I couldn't have asked for anything more on Defend The Dawn. I love that Tessa and the gang have new challenges ahead of them, but the massive one for Tessa and Prince Corick and King Harriston is finding more Moonflowers to stop the wars between the royals and the rebels. This read was amazing as we take a thrilling and action packed adventure on the sea. I loved that the plot was on the sea. We are introduced to new characters that cause a lot of challenges and feelings between Corick and Tessa. There is definitely some tension between these two in this book Tessa is still getting used to the fact that her best friend Wez is the prince, and she is still trying to work her head around that. As well as keeping her rebel friends happy too. I love Corick so much he's so protective of Tessa, but we all know Tessa is tough and wants to make everyone happy. This Journey could be the answer for getting all the moonflower they would need to save their kingdom from war and devastation. But the question is can Tessa and the gang and the emissary from Ostriary with an offer, trust and work together enough to get themselves there. I love the mystery and the whole storyline, and the ending, well omg you know when you're like ok something big is going to happen, and you prepare yourself but it still blows your minds, yeah well that was this book. An outstanding fantasy, I was shipped away on this amazing and heart- stopping adventure. That just left me needing so much more of this world . If you haven't read this series yet, then I highly recommend it. Brigid is an amazing writer and I can't wait for book 3 in the Defy The Night series.
